Table 16 PPRCOPY ESTPAIR parameters (resynchronizing pairs) (continued)
DescriptionValueParameters
Do not specify this parameter when
MODE(RESYNC) is set, otherwise it ends
abnormally (CC = 12).
YESMSGREQ
NO
NAP-VOL or S-VOL CU number.LSS
Forward pair resynchronization can be
performed whether the S-VOL is online or not.
YESONLINSEC*
Backward pair resynchronization can be
performed whether the P-VOL and S-VOL are
online or not.
Forward pair resynchronization is not
performed when the S-VOL is online.
NO
Backward pair resynchronization is not
performed when the P-VOL and S-VOL are
online. The ICKDSF job ends abnormally (CC
= 12).
Although errors do not occur when you specify
YES for this parameter, the copying operation
is performed without any online check.
* When you do not specify the parameter, the result is the same as when you specify NO for this parameter.
ESTPAIR with MODE(RESYNC) example
Deleting pairs with CDELPAIR, DELPAIR
Delete pairs using the CDELPAIR and PPRCOPY DELPAIR commands.
The commands are issued to the P-VOL.
If the pair is split, the S-VOL can be accessed by the host.
If the pair is in any other status than Split/SUSPOP, non-reserved S-VOL can be accessed by
the host. You cannot reserve volumes that are not assigned to a pair (SIMPLEX status).
NOTE: When splitting DUPLEX pairs, the P-VOL and its associated S-VOLs are usually not identical
since update copy operations are asynchronous. This means that the data integrity of the S-VOL
cannot be guaranteed. To ensure data integrity of the S-VOL, split the pair before deleting.
Parameters and examples are provided in the following sections.
CDELPAIR
The following table describes the CDELPAIR command parameters used to delete pairs.
