Note: This value can be increased depending on your
system configuration.
For information about the calculating the maximum number
of FS pairs, see “Calculating the number of Fast Snap
pairs (page 30).

The following table shows the requirements for FS S-VOLs.
RequirementItem
V-VOLsVolume type
You cannot specify the following volumes as FS S-VOLs:
Volumes that are already used as S-VOLs.
Volumes that other software applications are using for
pairs or migration plans.
LUSE volumes.
For more information about calculating the maximum
number of V-VOLs, see “Calculating the number of virtual
volumes that the storage system can create” (page 30).

The following table shows the requirements for FS pool-VOLs.
RequirementItem
Logical volumes (LDEV)Volume type
Use the following configurations to maintain performance levels:
Do not mix normal volumes and pool-VOLs in a parity group.
Ensure that the pool-VOLs consist of LDEVs from multiple parity groups.
Assign different processor blade IDs* to LDEVs that make up pool-VOLs.
You cannot specify the following volumes as FS pool-VOLs:
Volumes whose volume status is not “Normal or “Normal (Quick Format)”. If you are blocking
or copying a volume, you cannot specify the volume.
LUSE volumes
Volumes that are already being used as FS P-VOL or S-VOLs.
Volumes that are already contained in FS, SS, THP, or Smart pools.
Volumes used as migration plans or pair volumes for another program product.
Volumes with Protect or Read Only attribute, or the S-VOL Disable attribute setting (Data Ret.)
Cache Residency volumes.
