If more than one pool-VOL of the same hard disk drive type exists, its priority is determined according
to storage system’s the internal index information.
Creating Fast Snap data pools
You can create FS data pools using RWC.
Prerequisites
Prerequisite: The volumes that you plan to add to the pool have the same assigned CLPR.
1. In the Storage Systems tree, select Pools.
2. In the Pools window, click Create Pools.
3. In the Create Pools window, complete the following:
For Pool Type, select Fast Snap.
Required: Yes
Select a pool-VOL. Complete the following and click Select Pool VOLs:
- For Drive Type/RPM, select your system's data drive type and RPM.
Values: External Storage
Maximum: 3
- For RAID Level, select the system's RAID level. For example, RAID-1.
NOTE: You can register only one system RAID level in a pool.
If you selected External Storage for Drive Type/RPM, a dash (-) is shown for this item and
this item is unavailable.
4. In the Select Pool Volumes window, from the Available Pool Volumes table, select the pool-VOLs
that you want to assign and click Add.
Maximum volumes per pool: 1,024
Required: Yes
The selected pool-VOLs are registered to the Select Pool Volumes list. The information in the
Selected Pool Volumes table is applied to Total Selected Pool Volumes and Total Selected
Capacity.
5. (Optional) In the Create Pools window, complete the following, and then click OK:
- To filter the rows, click ON in the Filter field.
- To select all pool-VOLs in the list, click Select All Pages.
- To specify the capacity unit and the number of rows to be shown, click Options and
make the selection.
CAUTION: You cannot delete the added pool-VOL. Make sure that the pool-VOL settings
are correct.
6. In the Create Pools window, for Pool Name, type a pool name, and then click Options.
Character limit: 32 characters (for the Prefix and Initial Number).
