1. Calculate the remaining number of the remaining cache management devices. To do this, use
the following formula:
number-of-cache-management-devices = 65,280 -
number-of-cache-management-devices-being-used
For more information about how to confirm the number of cache management devices being
used, see “Monitoring the number of cache management devices (page 57).
If a warning SIM is issued before you deplete the cache management devices, that does not
mean a problem occurs immediately. However, if you continue to use the storage system and
then cache management devices are depleted, the FS pair status becomes “PSUE” and you
cannot store the snapshot data. In addition, you cannot create additional FS pairs using other
P-VOLs. It is important that you reserve enough cache management devices.
2. Correct the problems related to a SIM.
For more information about correcting problems, see “General troubleshooting (page 64).
3. Complete the SIM and change the SIM status to completed”.
For more information about completing SIMs, see “Completing SIMs (page 67).
SIMs related to cache management devices completion
Use the following process to complete SIMs related to cache management devices:
1. Confirm the number of the remaining cache management devices.
For more information about how to confirm the number of the remaining cache management
devices, see “Calculating the number of remaining cache management devices.
2. Complete the following to make sure that the number of the remaining cache management
devices is 4,096 or more:
Remove unneeded V-VOLs.
Remove all snapshots in unneeded P-VOLs.
3. Complete the SIM.

4. (Optional) Verify whether a SIM has been completed normally using the RWC window.
