Suitable Areas:

Suitable Surfaces:
•Smoothsurfacesthataredry,at,level,structurallysoundandrigid.
• Clean surfaces that are free of dust, dirt, grease, paint, varnish, oils,
solvents,oldadhesiveresidue,carpetstaples,andmoisture.
•Smooth-surface,well-bondedresilientoors.
•Concreteoorsonorabovegradethataredry,freeofdust,solvents,grease
andoil.Newconcretemustbethoroughlydryandcuredforatleastsix
weeks.ConcretemustbesealedwithSentinel811AdhesivePrimer.Never
installself-adhesiveplanksoverunsealedconcrete.

hasbeenprimedwithSentinel811AdhesivePrimer.

Warnings:
•
Neveruse solvent-basedor chemical oorpreparation materials.
Neveruseprimersorllersthataremanufacturedforusewith
paintorproductsotherthanvinylooring.
• Neveraddadditionaladhesivetoself-adhesiveplanksregardless
ofthetypeofadhesive!
• Never install self-adhesive planks over unsealed porous sub-
surfaces such as concrete, plywood, or Portland based patch/
underlayment/embossingleveler.
CONCRETESUBFLOORMOISTURETESTINGPROCEDURE:
Ifyouareunsurewhethermoisture(hydrostaticpressure)isaproblem,cuta
few2sq.ft.squaresofpolyethylenelmandducttapethemtoseveralareasof
theconcretesuboor.Waitabout72hoursandthenliftupthecornerofeach
testsquare.Iftheplasticisdry,thenmoistureiswithintheacceptablelevels.If
thereiscondensationontheundersideoftheplastic,oriftheoorbeneathis
damp,thenthemoisturelevelmaynotbeacceptable.
ACCLIMATION:
Storetheplanksat(notonendsorsides)inthesameroomwheretheywill
beinstalledforatleast48hourspriortoinstallation.Makesuretheroomtem-
peratureisbetween65degreesand85degreesFahrenheitforatleast48hours
priortoinstallation,duringinstallationandforthelifeoftheoor.
PREPARINGTHESUBFLOOR
Concrete Floors
Concretemustbecleanandfreeofmoisture.Removealldirt,grease,paint
oroldtileadhesive.Donotdampmopasmoisturewillstayinconcretefor
manyweeks. Sweepand vacuumoorthoroughly.Fillallcracksand holes
with a suitable Portland based latex crack ller per manufacturer’s instruc-
tions.SealtheconcretesuboorwithSentinelFormula811AdhesivePrimer.
Neverinstallself-adhesivevinylplanksoverunsealedconcreteregardlessof
gradelevel.
Wood Floors
Woodoorsmustbecleanandfreeofdirt,dust,varnish,paint,greaseand
waxes.Screwdownanylooseboardsinpreparationforplywoodunderlay-
ment.Coversuboorwithooringgrademinimum¼”thickplywoodsanded
ononeside.Countersinkstapleornailheadsandllholesandjointswith
Portlandbasedlatexcrackller.Sweepandvacuumtheoorthoroughly,then
sealwith Sentinel Formula 811AdhesivePrimer. Neverinstallself-adhesive
planksoverunsealedplywood.
Old Floor Coverings
Planks may be installed directly over any well-bonded, smooth surface
resilient oors after removing all wax or any other coatings. Planks should
notbeinstalledovercushionedoormaterials.Planksshouldnotbeinstalled
overheavily embossedtiles unless the embossing has been lledin with a
suitablePortlandbasedlevelerwhichhasbeenprimedwithSentinelFormula
811AdhesivePrimer.
WARNING: Do not sand existing resilient oor, as the dust may
containharmfulasbestosbers.
PatchingorLeveling
Patch,ll,levelandsmoothanyholes,cracksorsurfaceirregularities.Make
surethattheoorissmooth,at,cleanandcompletelyfreeofwax,grease,oil
ordustbeforelayingtheplanks.Anyroughnessorunevennessinthesuboor
mayeventuallyshowthrough,detractingfromthegenuineappearanceofyour
ooraswellascauseexcessivewearinginthoseareas.Afterpatching,sealthe
surfacewithSentinelFormula811AdhesivePrimer.
BEFOREINSTALLINGPLANKS:
Flooringshouldbeoneofthelastitemsinstalledinanyremodelingornew
construction project. Planks should only be installed in a temperature
controlled environment. HVAC must be operating before, during, and after
installationforthelifeoftheoor.Planksandtheroomwheretheplanksare
beinginstalledmustbemaintainedatastabletemperatureofaround65°F-85-
°Fforatleast48hourspriorto,duringandafterinstallation.Installedplanks
must always be maintained at a stable, controlled temperature of between
65°Fand85°Fyearroundforthelifeoftheproduct.Pleasebearinmind,inthe
winteraconcreteoorcanbeupto10°Fcolderthantheroomtemperature.
FOR BEST VISUAL RESULTS:
1)Mixplanksfromseveraldifferentboxestoavoidinstallingplankswithsimilar
patterns/colors/shadesnexttoeachother.Alittletimespentcarefullyselect-
ingandmixingplanksfromseveraldifferentboxeswillsignicantlyreduce
theeffectofanyshadevariationsaswellasincreasetheauthenticityand
beautyofyouroor.
2)Laythelongdimensionoftheplanksparalleltothelongdimensionofthe
room.
3)Avoidclusteringofendjoints.Staggertheendjointsbyatleast6”fromrow
torow.
4)Before installation, in a well-lit room, carefully inspect each plank for
damages,blemishes,andvisualdefects.Donotcutorinstallplanksthatare
visuallyobjectionable.Forvisualfaultsordefects:installationconstitutes
acceptance.
