5.MAINTENANCE

Thefollowinginstructionsareforusebyqualifiedpersonnelonly.Toavoidelectricalshock,donotperformany

servicingotherthanintheoperatinginstructionsunlessyouarequalifiedtodoso.

5.1FuseReplacement

Ifthefuseblows,thepowerlampindicatorswillnotlightandtheoscilloscopewillnotoperate.Thefuseshouldnotnormally open

unlessaproblemhasdevelopedintheunit.Trytodetermineandcorrectthecauseoftheblownfuse.Therep1aceonlywithafuseofthecorrect

ratingandtype(seepage5)

Thefuseislocatedontherearpanel(seefig.4-2).

5.2Cleaning

Tocleantheoscilloscope,useasoftclothdampenedinasolutionofmilddetergentandwater.Donotspraycleanerdirectlyon

totheoscilloscopebecauseitmayleakintothecabinetandcausedamage.

Donotusechemicalscontainingbenzine,benzene,toluene,xylene,acetone,orsimilarsolvents.

Donotuseabrasivecleanersonanyportionoftheoscilloscope.

WARNING

Forcontinuedfireprotection.Replacefuseonlywith250Vfuseofthe

specifiedtypeandrating,anddisconnectpowercordbeforereplacingfuse.

6.ComponentTestOperation(OnlyTypeT)

Thecomponenttestboarddeliversasinevoltage(50Hzor60Hz)whichisappliedacrossthecomponentundertest.The

sinevoltageacrossthetestobjectisusedforthehorizontaldeflection(V)andvoltage-drop(currentthroughthetestobject)

isusedforverticaldeflection(I)oftheoscilloscope.

BythisV-Icharacteristiccurve,thegoodorfaultofcomponentismeasured.

7.Tosetuptheoscilloscope(OnlyTypeT)forcomponenttestoperation,proceedasfollows:

1.TurnTIME/DIVswitchtotheX-YpositionandsetbothverticalcouplingswitchestoDCpositionaswellassetting

upthebothVOLTS/DIVknobCH1(X)to5V/DIV,CH2(Y)to2V/DIV,thenpushtheCOMP.TESTSWToTEST

position.

2.Thenhorizontalbargraphofabout5~6divisdisplayedonthescreen.

3.ThepositionofgraphiscontrolledwithCH2POSITIONandH-POSITION.

4.Componetsmaybedirectlyhookedtotestingcode.Thenwaveformchartisdisplayedonthescreen.

8.Testcondition

1.Resitor,capacitor,coil,diode,zenerorsimplecombinationofthecomponentscanbetested.

2.Testingvoltage:approx.9VACp-p

3.Testingfrequency:50/60Hz

4.Testingcurrent:approx.0.6mA

1.Usingthecomponenttestfunction,don'tapplythesingaltotheCH1andCH2inputbecausetheoscilloscopedoesn't

operateinthecomponenttestmode.
