Foreword This guide is intended to be used with phones running EMUI 3.1. All pictures and illustrations are for your reference only and may differ from the final product. The features described in this guide may not be available on all phones or carriers due to local service supplier policy. Highlights New camera modes Turning the camera The camera can rotate making selfies easy. To take a selfie, turn the camera back to face you, as shown in the following figure. When your phone is turned on, the camera app will be opened as you rotate the camera to face the front. When rotating the camera, avoid touching the lens to avoid staining it. This could affect the picture quality. To avoid damage to the camera, turn the camera back to its original position when you finish using it as a front camera.

Unlocking the safe with your fingerprint After enabling Safe in Files and setting your password, you will be prompted to enable fingerprint unlocking. Getting started Do not block the area around the ambient light and proximity sensor. When you attach a protective film to the screen, make sure it does not block the sensor. Getting started Touchscreen gestures Touch: Tap an item once. For example, touch to confirm an action or open an application. Touch and hold: Touch and leave your finger on the screen for 2 seconds or more. For example, touch and hold a blank area on the home screen to enter editing mode. Swipe: Move your finger vertically or horizontally across the screen. For example, you can swipe left or right under Notifications in the notification panel to dismiss a notification.
Getting started Pinch two fingers out: Spread two fingers apart on the screen. For example, pinch two fingers out to zoom in on a picture or web page. Getting started Motion control Motion control lets you control your phone using simple motions and gestures. Getting started Home screen Your home screens are where you can find your favorite widgets and all your applications. Automatic screen rotation If you rotate your phone when browsing a web page or viewing a photo, the screen orientation changes automatically between landscape and portrait mode. This feature allows you to enjoy tilt-controlled applications, such as racing games.

Getting started Notifications Status indicator The status indicator on your phone indicates the following status information: • Blinking red: The battery level is low. • Steady red (when charging): The battery level is low. • Steady yellow (when charging): The battery level is medium. • Steady green (when charging): The battery is almost full or already full. • Blinking green: There are unread messages or notifications.
Getting started 3 Enable or disable automatic screen brightness. Touch the shortcut switches to enable or disable the corresponding 4 functions. Accessing applications Opening and switching between applications On the home screen, touch an icon to open the corresponding application. To switch to another application, touch Home to return to the home screen, and touch the icon of the application you want to open.

Calls and contacts Making an emergency call In the event of an emergency, you can make emergency calls from your phone, even without a SIM card. The ability to make emergency calls depends on local regulations and carriers in your region. Poor network usability or environmental interference may prevent your call from being connected.
Calls and contacts Answering or rejecting a call When a call comes in, you can press the volume button to mute the ringtone. When the screen is locked, you can: • Drag right to answer the call. • Drag left to reject the call. • Touch to select a message or customize a message to reject the call. • Touch to set a callback reminder. Making a conference call It's easy to set up a conference call using the multi-party call feature on your phone.

Your camera will track and stay focused on this object as you're shooting the video. • Stabilizer: Minimizes camera shake during recording.

Network and sharing Connecting to a Wi-Fi network using WPS Wi-Fi protected setup (WPS) helps make it easier to connect your phone to a Wi-Fi network. Simply press the WPS button or enter the PIN to connect your phone to a Wi-Fi router that supports WPS. 1 On the home screen, touch 2 Touch Wi-Fi. 3 Turn on Wi-Fi. 4 Touch Settings. > Advanced settings. Network and sharing USB tethering You can share your phone's data connection with a computer using a USB cable. Depending on your computer's operating system, you may need to install phone drivers on the computer or establish a network connection in order to use USB tethering. 1 Use a USB cable to connect your phone to the computer. 2 On the home screen, touch 3 Under Wireless & networks, touch More. 4 Touch Tethering & portable hotspot.

Your phone will search for available devices. 5 Select the device to which you want to connect.
Network and sharing Transferring data between your phone and computer Connecting in picture transfer mode The Picture Transfer Protocol (PTP) is an image transfer protocol that can be used to transfer images between your phone and computer, making sharing easier. 1 Use a USB cable to connect your phone to the computer. 2 Swipe down from the status bar to open the notification panel. Set USB connected to Photos. Any drivers required will be installed automatically on the computer.
