WIRING INSTRUCTIONS FOR INLET HBL61CM64 AND HBL61CM65
CAUTION: RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK. TURN OFF ALL CIRCUIT POWER
BEFORE INSTALLING WIRING DEVICE. THIS WIRING DEVICE IS INTENDED
FOR INSTALLATION BY A QUALIFIED ELECTRICIAN.
CAUTION: USE WITH COPPER WIRE ONLY.
ATTENTION: EMPLOYER UNIQUEMENT AVEC FIL DE CUIVRE.
1. Cut a 2+ 1/32 inch (51+ 0.8mm) diameter opening with a hole saw or
equivalent method that will provide a smooth round cut to prevent any
irregularities near the gasket/boot surface. Center the boot and device in
the cutout, mark then drill the four mounting screw holes.
2. Do not exceed marked electrical ratings.
3. Connect with insulated copper conductors 14-12 AWG solid or stranded.
Use wire of adequate ampacity. See American Boat and Yacht Council
(ABYC) Safety Standard Section E8 Table V-A and V-B. (DO NOT USE
ALUMINUM WIRE. DO NOT TIN CONDUCTORS.)
4. These devices will accept locking fork terminals. For proper crimping of
fork terminal, follow the terminal manufacturer's procedure.
For screw terminal connection, wrap conductor under screw head to
form clockwise loop keeping conductor under screw head. This will
tighten wire as screw is turned.
5. Pull conductors through 2 inch (51 mm) diameter cutout. Slip boot down
conductors.
6. Connect green or bare grounding conductor to the green hex head
screw. Connect the white neutral conductor to the silver color head
screw. Connect the hot conductor to the dark color head screw. Tighten
all terminal screws to 9-12 pound•inches (1.0-1.4 N•m) torque.
7. The ABYC requires wires to be supported and/or clamped within 18
inches (457 mm) of the inlet or outlet to relieve strain on the terminations.
8. Install the inlet or outlet securely into the bulkhead or panel.
