Common G-Floor® Garage Flooring Installations Many customers inquire as to the best methods for installing G-Floor garage flooring. We have provided the following diagrams which demonstrate common installations for a single garage parking pad, double garage mat installation, or when three or more parking pads are being installed in the same space.
Tips and Tricks: • What is a “Floating Mat”? o A G-Floor mat that is unsecured, has no stationary objects on top of it and does not butt up against the wall, is considered a “floating mat”. • What does “No Adhesive Required” really mean? o ‘No adhesive required’ applies when G-Floor is used as a Parking Pad. Simply roll it out and park your car / boat / golf cart / motorcycle / etc on the mat.
• What if I have a drain in my garage? o If there is a drain in your garage, the drain will have to be considered when placing a mat or doing a permanent installation. For a permanent installation, a hole will have to be cut in the material corresponding to the drain before it is adhered to the concrete.
SINGLE PARKING PAD INSTALLATION CABINET Double sided tape should only be used on the leading edge of the mat, at the entrance of the garage, if needed. Most of the time, the parking pad is heavy enough and tape is not needed.
DOUBLE PARKING PAD INSTALLATION CABINET CABINET When using two pads to cover a space, use seam tape or G-Floor® center trim to keep them in place and protect the seam. 1” 1” After insertion into the center trim piece, be sure to leave an inch of room to allow the pads to ‘float’ within the trim with temperature changes. 1” 1” 1” Floating is the term for very small movements in the mat’s position that occurs when the vinyl experiences contraction and expansion due to temperature extremes.
THREE OR MORE PARKING PAD INSTALLATION When using three or more pads to cover a space, use only G-Floor®center trim to keep them in place and protect the seam. Do not use seam tape, as it will lead the center pad to buckle. CABINET CABINET 1” 1” After insertion into the center trim piece, be sure to leave an inch of room to allow the pads to ‘float’ within the trim with temperature changes.
WALL-TO-WALL INSTALLATION When unrolling and positioning material, it is recommended to double cut the seam. Seam tape is suggested to hold the material until adhesive can be applied. CABINET Avoid placing seams in high-traffic areas . Floor should be scraped and swept free of debris and have any residues, paint or other chemicals cleaned off the floor. Adhesive should cover 100% of the exposed floor, leaving no gaps or puddles.
