Starting failure
Check Possible Cause Action
Starter pawls Binding pawls
Adjust or replace the pawls.
Clean around the pawls.
Contact a servicing dealer.
Fuel tank Incorrect fuel type Drain it and use correct fuel.
Carburettor Adjustment of the idle speed
Adjust the idling speed with the T-
screw.
Sparking (no spark)
Spark plug contaminated or wet
Make sure that the spark plug is dry
and clean.
Spark plug gap incorrect.
Clean the spark plug. Check that the
electrode gap is correct. Make sure
that the spark plug is fitted with a
suppressor.
Refer to technical data for correct
electrode gap.
Spark plug Spark plug loose. Retighten the spark plug
Engine starts but does not stay running.

Fuel tank Incorrect fuel type Drain it and use correct fuel.
Carburettor Engine will not idle properly. Contact your servicing dealer.
Air filter Clogged air filter Clean the air filter.
