SAFETY DH2000 Important Information - Read All Instructions When using unit, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and personal injury. • Before assembling, operating, or servicing your unit, you must read and understand this Instruction Manual. • You must understand all safety symbols and warning labels, and obey the safety precautions provided by these important safety reminders.
DH2000 SAFETY • Do not expose power tools to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. • Do not abuse the cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. • When operating a power tool outdoors, use an extension cord suitable for outdoor use.
SAFETY DH2000 • Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control. • Use the power tool, accessories and tool bits etc. in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed. Use of the power tool for operations different from those intended could result in a hazardous situation.
DH2000 SAFETY • Before starting the hedge trimmer, make sure the blade is not in contact with any object. • Never cut any material with a diameter larger than 15 mm (0.6 in). • Hedge Trimmer blades are very sharp. Touching them may lead to severe personal injury. Avoid touching blades whenever possible, and always wear gloves to protect hands. • Wear sturdy, no-slip, rubber work gloves to improve your grip on the handles.
SAFETY DH2000 • DO NOT WEAR SHORTS. • DO NOT WEAR TIES, SCARVES, JEWELRY, or clothing with loose or hanging items that could become entangled in moving parts or surrounding growth. • Keep clothing buttoned or zipped, and keep shirt tails tucked in. Wear sturdy work shoes with nonskid rubber soles: • DO NOT WEAR OPEN TOED SHOES. • DO NOT OPERATE UNIT BAREFOOTED. Keep long hair away from moving parts. Retain hair with cap or net.
DH2000 SAFETY Repetitive Stress Injuries (RSI) It is believed that overusing the muscles and tendons of the fingers, hands, arms, and shoulders may cause soreness, swelling, numbness, weakness, and extreme pain in those areas. Certain repetitive hand activities may put you at a high risk for developing a Repetitive Stress Injury (RSI). An extreme RSI condition is Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (CTS), which could occur when your wrist swells and squeezes a vital nerve that runs through the area.

CONTENTS DH2000 CONTENTS The Shindaiwa product you purchased has been factory pre-assembled for your convenience. Due to packaging restrictions, some assembly may be necessary. After opening the carton, check for damage. Immediately notify your retailer or Shindaiwa Dealer of damaged or missing parts. Use the contents list to check for missing parts. Battery and charger may be sold separately.
DH2000 ASSEMBLY ASSEMBLY Battery Installation Read, understand, and follow all safety and operating instructions in this manual. The hedge trimmer will operate when the battery is installed, the power indicator LED is lit, and the throttle trigger, throttle trigger lockout, and interlock switch are engaged. Make sure the hedge trimmer is properly positioned to prevent loss of control and possible serious injury.
OPERATION DH2000 OPERATION Read, understand, and follow all safety and operating instructions in this manual. Moving parts can amputate fingers or cause severe injuries. Keep hands, clothing, and loose objects away from all openings. ALWAYS turn power to unit off, remove battery, and make sure all moving parts have come to a complete stop before removing obstructions, clearing debris, cleaning, or servicing unit.
DH2000 OPERATION The blades will operate when the battery is installed, the power indicator LED is lit, and the trigger, throttle trigger lockout, and interlock switch are engaged. Make sure the hedge trimmer is properly positioned to prevent loss of control and possible serious injury. Keep movable parts off the ground and away from objects that could become entangled. 1. Remove blade cover. 2. Push power button (A) once to turn on power to unit.
OPERATION DH2000 When power to the unit is turned on: • After one minute of inactivity, unit will power itself off. • If the LED remains lit, operation is normal. • If the LED flashes once per second, the battery needs to be charged. • If the LED flashes four times per second, there is a fault within the hedge trimmer. Turn power off to unit. Remove battery. Clear debris from around the blades. Install battery. Turn power on to unit.
DH2000 OPERATION • Do not try to cut stems or twigs that are larger than 15 mm (0.6 in) in. thick, or those obviously too large to feed into the cutting blade. Use a non-powered hand saw or pruning saw to trim large stems. • If blades do become jammed, stop the motor, allow the blades to stop and remove the battery pack before attempting to remove the obstruction. Remove battery and use compressed air or a soft bristle brush to remove debris from battery and battery compartment. Risk of electric shock or fire. Do not use electricity conducting materials to clean battery or battery compartment. Charging Battery Read, understand, and follow all safety and operating instructions in this manual.

Verify battery is fully charged by removing battery from charger, then pressing battery charge status button (C), and checking LED display (D). • 1 green light indicates that the battery has 0-25% charge. • 2 green lights indicate that the battery has 25-50% charge. • 3 green lights indicate that the battery has 50-75% charge. • 4 green lights indicate that the battery has 75-100% charge. 6. Disconnect battery charger from power supply.
DH2000 MAINTENANCE Gear Box Note: Apply lithium based grease every 15-20 hours of use. Actual use and your experience will determine the frequency of required maintenance. Parts Required: Lithium Based Grease. 1. Clean dirt from the grease fitting (A). 2. Apply 3 pumps of grease [about 2 g (0.07 oz)] into fitting, DO NOT over fill. Leave room for the grease to expand during operation. 3. Wipe excess grease from around grease fitting.

(see “Blade Guard Remove/Install instructions”). 4. Slide blades to allow file clearance using slots (A) on bottom of blade. Do not pry against cutting edges. 5. File each edge carefully.
