PeriodicServiceSchedule
WARNING
•Onlytrainedtechniciansshouldserviceorrepairthevehicle.Anyonedoingevensimplerepairsor
serviceshouldhaveknowledgeandexperienceinelectricalandmechanicalrepair.Theappropriate
instructionsmustbeusedwhenperformingmaintenance,service,oraccessoryinstallation.
•Ifanyproblemsarefoundduringscheduledinspectionorservice,donotoperatevehicleuntilrepairs
aremade.Failuretomakenecessaryrepairscouldresultinre,propertydamage,severepersonal
injury,ordeath.
•Donotwearlooseclothingorjewelrysuchasrings,watches,chains,etc.,whenservicingthevehicle.
•TurnkeyswitchtotheOFFposition,removethekey,placetheForward/Reversehandleinthe
NEUTRALpositionandchockthewheelspriortoservicing.
•Movingparts:Donotattempttoservicevehiclewhileengineisrunning.
•Hot!Donotattempttoservicehotengineorexhaustsystem.Failuretoheedthiswarningcould
resultinsevereburns.
•Forvehicleswithcargobeds,removeallcargobeforeraisingthebedorservicingthevehicle.Ifthe
vehicleisequippedwithaproprod,ensurethatitissecurelyengagedwhilebedisraised.Donot
closebeduntilallpersonsareclearofcargobedarea.Keephandsclearofallcrushareas.Donot
dropcargobed;lowergentlyandkeepentirebodyclear.Failuretoheedthiswarningcouldresultin
severepersonalinjuryordeath.
•Donotworkonvehiclepowertrainorundercargobedwhenitisloaded.
•Turnfuelshut-offvalvetotheclosed(OFF)position(Figure11).
•Toavoidunintentionallystartingthevehicle:
–Disconnectbatterycables,negative(–)cablerst(Figure2).
–Gasolinevehiclesonly:Disconnectthesparkplugwiresfromthesparkplugs.
•Ifwiresareremovedorreplacedmakesurewiringandwireharnessareproperlyroutedandsecured.
Failuretoproperlyrouteandsecurewiringcouldresultinvehiclemalfunction,propertydamage,
personalinjury,ordeath.
•Liftonlyoneendofthevehicleatatime.Useasuitableliftingdevice(chainhoistorhydraulicoor
jack)with1000lb.(454kg)minimumliftingcapacity.Donotuseliftingdevicetoholdvehicleinraised
position.Useapprovedjackstandsofproperweightcapacitytosupportthevehicleandchock
thewheelsthatremainontheoor.
•Whenservicingthevehiclewithpartofthevehicleonjackstands,donotoperatetheenginewiththe
Forward/ReversehandleineithertheFORWARDorREVERSEposition.Thefour-wheeldrivesystem
mayengageanywheel(s),frontorrear,dependingonthemodeselected.SeeFigure3.

•Service,repairs,andadjustmentsmustbemadeperinstructionsintheappropriatemaintenance
andservicemanual.
NOTE:Ifthevehicleisconstantlysubjectedtoheavyuseorsevereoperatingconditions,thepreventivemaintenance
proceduresshouldbeperformedmoreoftenthanrecommendedinthePeriodicServiceandLubrication
Schedule.
BoththePeriodicServiceScheduleandthePeriodicLubricationSchedulemustbefollowedtokeepvehiclein
optimumoperatingcondition.
