11.Releasethebrakepedalcompletely,andthenslowlypresstheacceleratorpedal.Astheacceleratorpedalis
pressed,thevehiclewillbegintomove.Vehiclespeedwillincreaseastheacceleratorispresseduntilfullspeed
isreached.SeefollowingWARNING.
WARNING
•Operatormustcontrolvehiclespeedwhengoingdownhill.
•NevershiftthevehicleoutoftheFORWARDpositionwhilegoingdownhill.Ifyoudo,youwillnotbe
abletoshiftintotheREVERSEpositionorbackintotheFORWARDpositionuntilstopped.
•Pressthebrakepedalasnecessaryandpresstheacceleratorpedalpartiallywhendescendingahill.
Withtheacceleratorpedalpartiallypressed,thegovernorwillcausetheenginetoassistthebrakesin
controllingdownhillspeed.
DRIVETRAINOPERATION
The4X2vehiclefeaturesadrivetrainwithalockingreardifferential.The4X4vehiclealsofeaturesanopenfront
differential.Innormaloperation,thereardifferentialdrivesthetwowheelsatvaryingspeedsasrequired.Under
conditionswithlowtraction,thedifferentiallockmaybeengagedallowingbothwheelstobecomelockedanddrive
atthesamespeed.Onthe4x4vehicle,thefrontdifferentialmayalsobeengagedtoprovideadditionaltractionin
slipperyconditions.SeefollowingWARNING.
WARNING
•Whenservicingthevehiclewithpartofthevehicleonjackstands,donotoperatetheenginewiththe
Forward/ReversehandleineithertheFORWARDorREVERSEposition.Thefour-wheeldrivesystem
mayengageanywheel(s),frontorrear,dependingonthemodeselected.See(Figure3).
•Thediameterofalltiresonthevehiclemustbeequal;otherwisethefour-wheeldrivesystemwillnot
operateasintendedandcouldresultinseverepersonalinjuryordeath.Neverinstalltiresofdifferent
diametersonthevehicle.
•Reducedsteeringcontrolcanoccurwhenthefrontdifferentialislocked.
STOPPINGTHEVEHICLE
Tostopthevehicle,releasetheacceleratorpedalandpressthebrakepedaluntilthevehiclecomestoacompletestop.
SeefollowingWARNINGandCAUTION.
WARNING
•Drivingthroughwatermayaffectthebrakes.Afterdrivingthroughwater,checkeffectivenessofthe
brakesbygentlypressingthebrakepedal.Ifthevehicledoesnotslowdownatthenormalrate,
continuetopressthebrakepedaluntilthebrakesdryoutandnormalperformancereturns.
CAUTION
•Whenstoppedonahill,usethebrakepedaltoholdyourposition.Donotusetheacceleratorpedal
toholdposition.
