4.Useaat-bladescrewdriver,andcarefullyremovethebatterycellcapsfromthebattery.Seefollowing

rubbergloveswhenworkingonornearbatteries.
5.Carefullychecktheelectrolytelevelandadddistilledwaterifnecessary.Donotllthebatterycellsabove
thedesignatedllline.Replacebatterycellcaps.
6.Cleanbothbatteryterminalswithasolutionofbakingsodaandwater(1cup(237mL)bakingsodaper1gallon
(3.8L)ofwater).Rinsethoroughly.Donotallowthissolutiontoenterthebattery.Tightenbatteryterminalsto
80in-lb(9N·m).LettheterminalsdryandthenspraythemwithBatteryT erminalProtectorSpray(P/N60300
00-03).SeefollowingWARNING.
WARNING
•Ifbatterywireterminalsaredamagedorcorroded,replaceorcleanthemasnecessary.Failuretodo
somaycausethemtooverheatduringoperationandcouldresultinare,propertydamage,or
personalinjury.
Besurethebatteryhold-downclampisproperlytightened.Tightento71in-lb(8N·m).Alooseclampmayallowthe
batterytobecomedamagedfromvibrationorjarring.
Ifbatteryappearsweak,haveitchargedbyatrainedtechnician.Thebatteryshouldneverbeleftdischargedany
longerthanabsolutelynecessary(donotleavedischargedovernight).

•Donotjumpstartorchargeafrozenordamagedbattery.Unplugchargerbeforeconnectingor
disconnectingcablestothebattery.Neverleanoverbatterywhileboosting,testing,orcharging.
Ifitisnecessarytouseaboosterbatterytostarttheengine,BECAREFUL!

theparkbrakeandchockthewheels.
2.Ensuretheboosterbatteryis12-volt.SeefollowingNOTE.
NOTE:Astartingbatteryisrecommendedbutadeepcyclebatterycanbeusedifnecessary.
