PERFORMANCEINSPECTION
Afteryouhavefamiliarizedyourselfwiththevehiclecontrolsandhavereadandunderstoodthedrivinginstructions,
takethevehicleforatestdrive.Usethefollowinglist,inadditiontothePre-OperationandDailySafetyChecklist,asa
guidetoinspectthevehicledailyforproperoperation.Anyproblemsshouldbecorrectedbyadealer/distributorora
trainedtechnician.
•Forward/Reverseshifter:Checkforproperoperation.SeeControlsandIndicatorsonpage15.
•Brakes:Besurethebrakesfunctionproperly.Whenbrakepedalisfullypressedundermoderatepressure,the
vehicleshouldcometoasmooth,straightstop.Ifthevehicleswervesorfailstostop,havethebrakesystem
checkedandadjustedasrequired.Whenthebrakepedalisfullypressedunderheavypressure,thepedalshould
feelrmandthedistancebetweenthebackofthepedalandtheoorboardshouldbeaminimumof1.25inches
(3.2cm).Brakeadjustmentmustbemaintainedsothebrakepedalcannotbepressedtotheoorboardunder
anycircumstance.
•Parkbrake:Whenlatched,theparkbrakeshouldlockthewheelsandholdthevehiclestationaryonaninclineof
20%orless.
•Reversebuzzer:Ifequippedwithareversebuzzer,thereversebuzzershouldsoundasawarningwhenthe
Forward/ReversehandleisintheREVERSEposition.
•Steering:Thevehicleshouldbeeasytosteerandshouldnothaveanyplayinthesteeringwheel.Besurethe
steeringwheeladjustmentleverissecurelylockedintoposition.
•Accelerator:AfterstartingtheenginewiththekeyswitchandplacingtheForward/Reversehandleinthe
FORWARDposition,thevehicleshouldacceleratesmoothlytofullspeedastheacceleratorpedalispressed.
Whenthepedalisreleaseditshouldreturntotheoriginalposition,andtheengineshouldidle.Thisvehicle
operatesatareducedspeedinreverse.
•Governor:Checkmaximumvehiclespeed.Thevehicleshouldoperateinforwardatamaximumspeedof25
mph(40km/h)onalevelsurface.
•General:Listenforanyunusualnoisessuchassqueaksorrattles.Checkthevehicle’srideandperformance.
Haveadealeroratrainedtechnicianinvestigateanythingunusual.

WARNING
•Onlylicenseddriversshouldbeallowedtodrivethevehicle.
•Beforeallowinganyonetodrivethevehicle,makesurethedriverisfamiliarwithallcontrolsand
operatingprocedures.
•Nooneundertheageof16yearsshouldbeallowedtodrivethevehicle.
•Nomorethanonepersonperbucketseatatonetime.Nomorethantwopersonsperbenchseatat
onetime.Donotallowpeopletorideinanypartofthevehiclethatisnotequippedwithaseatanda
safetybelt.Donotallowapassengertoholdachildinhisorherlapwhilethevehicleismoving.
•Donotallowridersinthecargobed.
•Fornightuse,thevehiclemustbeequippedwithheadlights,taillights,andreectors.
•Thevehicleisnotspeciallyequippedforhandicappedpersons:
–Besureallpassengersarecapableofsecuringthemselvesinamovingvehiclebeforeallowing
themtorideinone.
–Besureallpersonscanproperlyoperatethevehiclepriortoallowingthemtodrivethevehicle.
