Biodieselisanexcellentmediumformicrobialgrowthandcontamination.Microbialcontaminationcancausecorrosion
ofthefuelsystemandprematurelypluggedfuellters.SeefollowingNOTE.
NOTE:Useofbiodieselmayresultinprematurefailureoffuelsystemcomponents.Kubotahasdocumentedproblems
suchaspluggedfuelltersanddeterioratedfuellinesduringtestingofbiodiesel.
Biodieselcandamagepaintedsurfaces.Besuretoremoveallspilledfuelimmediatelytohelppreventdamageto
paintedsurfaces.
IfbiodieselwillbeusedintheKubotaD722engine,besurethatitmeetsthefollowingrequirements:
•Thefuelblendshouldcontainnomorethan5%biodieselbyvolume.
•ThepetroleumportionofthefuelblendmustmeetASTMstandardD975andthebiodieselportionofthefuel
blendmustmeetASTMstandardD6751.
•ForEurope,thefuelblendmustmeettheEN590standard.SeefollowingCAUTION.
CAUTION
•Neveruseanyfuelthatdoesnotmeetspecicationsorfuelinwhichthecontentscannotbeidentied.
Usingblendshigherthan5%biodieselcontentcanaffectenginelifeandcausedeteriorationofhoses,
tubelines,injectors,injectorpumpandseals.
•Formoreinformationonthesefuelstandards,pleasecontactyournearestKubotadealer.
Ifbiodieselisused,besuretoapplythefollowingguidelines:
•Ensurethefueltankisasfullaspossibleatalltimestopreventmoisturefromcollecting.
•Ensurethatthefueltankcapissecurelytightenedtopreventwaterfromenteringthefueltank.
•Drainallwaterfromthefuellterdailybeforeoperatingvehicle.SeeDrainingWaterfromFuelFilter.
•Checktheengineoilleveldailybeforetheengineisstarted.SeeEngineOilLevelCheckonpage39.
•Beforevehiclestorage,runtheenginewithconventionaldieselfuelforatleast30minutestoushthebiodiesel
fromtheengine.SeePreparingtheVehicleforExtendedStorageonpage31.SeefollowingNOTE.
NOTE:Biodieseldoesnothavelong-termstabilityandmustnotbeleftinengineslongerthanthreemonths.Thisfuel
typeattractsmoistureandmaycontainhigherwatercontentthanconventionaldieselfuel.
Fuelsystemmaintenance,cleaning,andfuellinereplacementarerequiredmorefrequentlyforenginesthatare
operatedwithbiodiesel.
DRAININGWATERFROMFUELFILTER
DieselVehiclesOnly
Watershouldbedrainedfromthefuellterdaily.Thefuellterismountedonaplatebythelowerseatsupport
panel(Figure36).
1.Positionapanunderthefuellter.
2.Liftthepassenger-sideseat.
3.Locatethevalve(1)ontheundersideofthelter.Turnthevalveclockwiseuntilwaterbeginstostreamfrom
thelter.
4.Drainthewateruntilitchangescolor(tofuel).SeefollowingWARNING.
