ASSEMBLY Your new tractor has been assembled at the factory with exception of those parts left unassembled for shipping purposes. To ensure safe and proper operation of your tractor all parts and hardware you assemble must be tightened securely. Use the correct tools as necessary to ensure proper tightness. TOOLS REQUIRED FOR ASSEMBLY TO INSTALL STEERING WHEEL (See Fig. 2) A socket wrench set will make assembly easier. Standard wrench sizes are listed.
ASSEMBLY INSTALL SEAT (See Figs. 3 and 4) • • • TO INSTALL HOOD SCOOP (See Fig. 5) Remove bolt and flat washer securing seat to cardboard packing and set aside for assembly of seat to tractor. Remove the cardboard packing and discard. Connect switch to seat. Place seat on seat pan so all three (3) bottom pads are positioned over large slotted holes in pan. OPERATION The operation of any tractor can result in foreign objects thrown into the eyes, which can result in severe eye damage. Always wear safety glasses or eye shields while operating your tractor or performing any adjustments or repairs. We recommend a wide vision safety mask over spectacles or standard safety glasses. HOW TO USE YOUR TRACTOR • TO SET PARKING BRAKE (See Fig. 7) Your tractor is equipped with an operator presence sensing switch.
OPERATION TO OPERATE MOWER TO ADJUST MOWER CUTTING HEIGHT (See Fig. 11) Your tractor is equipped with an operator presence sensing switch. Any attempt by the operator to leave the seat with the engine running and the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine. You must remain fully and centrally positioned in the seat to prevent the engine from hesitating or cutting off when operating your equipment on rough, rolling terrain or hills. • Select desired height of cut.
OPERATION REVERSE OPERATION SYSTEM (ROS) TOWING CARTS & OTHER ATTACHMENTS Your tractor is equipped with a Reverse Operation System (ROS). Any attempt by the operator to travel in the reverse direction with the attachment clutch engaged will shut off the engine unless ignition key is placed in the ROS "ON" position. Tow only the attachments that are recommended by and comply with specifications of the manufacturer of your tractor. Use common sense when towing.
OPERATION PURGE TRANSMISSION TO START ENGINE (See Fig. 6) When starting the engine for the first time or if the engine has run out of fuel, it will take extra cranking time to move fuel from the tank to the engine. • Be sure freewheel control is in the transmission engaged position. • Sit on seat in operating position, depress clutch/brake pedal and set parking brake. • Place motion control lever in neutral position. • Move attachment clutch to “DISENGAGED” position.
OPERATION MOWING TIPS • • • • • DO NOT use tire chains when the mower housing is attached to tractor. Mower should be properly leveled for best mowing performance. See “TO LEVEL MOWER HOUSING” in the Service and Adjustments section of this manual. The left hand side of mower should be used for trimming. Drive so that clippings are discharged onto the area that has been cut. Have the cut area to the right of the tractor. This will result in a more even distribution of clippings and more uniform cutting.

MAINTENANCE TRACTOR BLADE CARE For best results mower blades must be kept sharp. Replace bent or damaged blades. Always observe safety rules when per form ing any maintenance. CAUTION: Use only a replacement blade approved by the manufacturer of your tractor. Using a blade not approved by the manufacturer of your tractor is hazardous, could damage your tractor and void your warranty.
MAINTENANCE TO CHANGE ENGINE OIL (See Fig. 19 & 20) V-BELTS Determine temperature range expected before oil change. All oil must meet API service classification SG-SL. • Ensure tractor is on level surface. • Oil will drain more freely when warm. • Catch oil in a suitable container. • Remove oil fill cap/dipstick. Be careful not to allow dirt to enter the engine when changing oil. • Remove yellow cap from end of drain valve and install the drain tube onto the fitting.
MAINTENANCE AIR FILTER CLAMP Your engine will not run properly using a dirty air filter. Service air cleaner more often under dusty conditions. CLAMP CLEAN AIR SCREEN The air screen is over the air intake blower located on top of engine. The air screen must be kept free of dirt and chaff to prevent engine damage from overheating. MAINTENANCE DECK WASHOUT PORT (See Fig. 24) Your tractor’s deck is equipped with a washout port as part of its deck wash system. It should be utilized after each use. 1. Drive the tractor to a level, clear spot on your lawn, near enough to a water spigot for your garden hose to reach. IMPORTANT: Make certain the tractor’s discharge chute is directed AWAY from your house, garage, parked cars, etc. Remove bagger chute or mulch cover if attached. 2.

NOTE: To seal tire punctures and prevent flat tires due to slow leaks, tire sealant may be purchased from your local parts dealer. Tire sealant also prevents tire dry rot and corrosion. The motion control lever has been preset at the factory and adjustment should not be necessary.

OPERACIÓN PARA AJUSTAR LA ALTURA DE CORTE DE LA SEGADORA (Vea Fig. 11) PARA OPERAR LA SEGADORA Su tractor viene equipada con un interruptor sensor que exige la presencia del operador. Si el motor está funcionando y el embrague del accesorio está enganchado y el operador trata de bajarse del asiento, se apagará el motor. Tiene que mantenerse sentado completa y centralmente en el asiento para impedir que el motor vacile o se apague cuando se opere su equipo en terreno disparejo, áspero o en cerros.
OPERACIÓN ATENCIÓN: Ir marcha atrás con el embrague puesto para cortar, no es recomendable. Poniendo el ROS en posición “ON”, para permitir el funcionamiento atrás con el embrague puesto, se tiene que hacer sólo cuando el operador lo considera necesario para reposicionar la máquina con el dispositivo embragado. No siegue en revés a menos que sea absolutamente necesario. REMOLQUE DE CARRETILLAS O OTROS ACCESORIOS USAR EL SISTEMA DE FUNCIONAMIENTO ATRÁS (ROS) (Vea Fig 15).
OPERACIÓN PARA HACER ARRANCAR EL MOTOR (Vea Fig. 6) PURGAR LA TRANSMISIÓN Al hacer arrancar el motor por la primera vez o si se ha acabado el combustible del motor, se necesitará tiempo para el arranque extra para mover el combustible desde el estanque hasta el motor. • Asegúrese que el control de rueda libre este en la posición enganchada. • Siéntase en el sillón en la posición de operación, suelte el pedal del embrague/freno y ponga el freno de estacionamiento.
OPERACIÓN CONSEJOS PARA SEGAR • • • • • • NO use cadenas de llanta cuando la carcasa de la cortadora de césped esté colocada en el tractor. MANTENIMENTO TRACTOR PRECAUCIÓN: Usar solamente la hojas de repuesto aprobada por el fabricante de su cortacésped. Usar una hoja no aprobada por el fabricante de su cortacésped es peligroso, puede dañar su cortacésped y anular su garantía. Siempre observe las reglas de seguridad cuando dé mantenimiento.
MANTENIMENTO CORREAS "V" PARA CAMBIAR EL ACEITE DEL MOTOR (Vea Fig. 19 y 20) Revise las correas "V" para verificar si existe deterioro y desgaste después de 100 horas de operación y cámbielas si es necesario. Las correas no son ajustables. Cambie las correas si empiezan a deslizarse debido al desgaste. Determine la gama de la temperatura esperada antes de cambiar el aceite. Todo el aceite debe cumplir con la clasificación de servicio API SG-SL. • Asegúrese que el tractor esté en una superficie nivelada.
