Column drilling machine HU 40 TI 1. General safety rules for all machines N.B.: Read the instructions carefully in order to avoid any problems. As with all machinery there are certain hazards involved with operation and use of this machine. Using the machine with respect and caution will considerably lessen the possibility op personal injury. However, if normal safety precautions are overlooked or ignored, personal injury to the operator may occur.
Additional safety rules Always keep in mind that: • the machine must be switched off and disconnected from the power supply during maintenance and repairs, • clamped workpieces may only be measured when the machine is switched off. Never lean over the machine, mind loose clothing, ties, jewellery etc. and wear a cap. Do not remove safety devices or guards. Never use the machine while a guard is open. Always use safety glasses for machining rough materials.
4. Technical specifications No. Description Measure Unit 1. Maximal drilling diameter 40 mm 2. Distance between axis of spindle – column surface 360 mm 3. Max. distance between spindle nose and work table surface 600 mm 4. Max. distance between spindle nose and base surface 1200 mm 5. Max. spindle travel 180 mm 6. Max. travel of work table and bracket 560 mm 7. Horizontal swing of table on bracket ± 45 degree 8. Taper of spindle bore 4 Morse 9.
5.2. Foundation and installation Figure B – Foundation dimensions • Take the work table as radius, go 360° around the column to determine the max. area of the foundation. The diameter of the foundation is 1800 mm (see figure B). Customers can decide the foundation area according to their own needs. The depth of the foundation is chosen so that it rests on a dense soil. The depth shown in figure D is just for reference. Pour concrete around the foundation bolts after setting these in the accurate positions.
7. Operation instructions 7.1. Starting the machine • Before starting the machine, read carefully the operation manual and become fully acquainted with all the details. The operator should be familiar with all the rules and points of attention for running and maintaining the machine. Strictly follow the instructions for lubrication. Fill the oiling places with lubricant at regular intervals.
7.5. Spindle reset The balance and reset of the spindle are accomplished by the coiled spring. The force of spindle balance can be adjusted by loosening the screw and turning the angle of the spring housing. 7.6. Tool loading and unloading See figure A 7.6.1. Tool loading Push in the tool loading lever (12) towards the spindle box. The limit shaft blocks the spindle sleeve from rising to its limit height. Push the tool taper shank into the spindle bore and fit tightly. 7.6.2.

10.2. Electrical circuit Picture I Picture J – control circuit J1 – Drilling/tapping J2 – Raising/lowering J3 – Indicator of power J4 – Feed clutch 10.2.1. Main power switch (QS1) The main power switch (QS1) is for controlling the power supply. It has opening for safety locking with a padlock. 10.2.2. Protection of the main motor The main motor is protected by a 3VU1340 auto switch (QF1), which can protect the motor from overload. 10.2.3.
10.4. Maintenance of electrical equipment Disconnect the main power supply before checking the electrical equipment. Keep the equipment clean by removing dust, dirt and grease regularly. You may not use volatile liquids (such as kerosene or gasoline) as cleaner. The working voltage of the motor must not exceed 5 % of the rated voltage. To ensure the machine runs normally, regular maintenance of the motor is a must.
