G110D01TG The highly efficient Hyundai automatic transaxle has five forward speeds and one reverse speed. The individual speeds are selected automatically, depending on the position of the speed selector lever. The selector lever has 2 gates; the main gate and the manual gate.
DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI 2 7 C090B03A-AAT C090C01A-AAT C090F02TG-GAT Transaxle ranges o R (Reverse): Sports Mode o P (Park): Use for backing up the vehicle. Bring the car to a complete stop before shifting the selector lever to "R" position. Use to hold the vehicle in place when parked or while starting the engine. Whenever parking the car, apply the parking brake and shift the selector lever to the "P" (Park) position.
2 DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI 8 NOTE: ! CAUTION: o In sports mode, the driver must execute upward shifts in accordance with prevailing road conditions, taking care to keep the engine speed below the red zone. o For engine protection, upward shifts are made automatically when the engine rpm reaches the red zone. o Since sudden engine braking and/or rapid acceleration can cause a loss of traction, downshifts must be made carefully in accordance with the vehicle's speed.
DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI 2 9 C090J01TG-GAT C090N06O-AAT SHIFT LOCK RELEASE Good Driving Practices C090J01TG If you cannot move the shift lever from the "P" (Park) position to any other position with the brake pedal fully depressed and the ignition key in the "ON" position, push the shift lock release button down with a thin object such as a flat-head screwdriver.

DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI ANTI-LOCK BRAKE SYSTEM (ABS) ELECTRONIC STABILITY CONTROL (ESC) SYSTEM C120A01TG-AAT (If Installed) The Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) is designed to prevent wheel lock-up during sudden braking or on hazardous road surfaces. The ABS control module monitors the wheel speed and controls the pressure applied to each brake. Thus, in emergency situations or on slick roads, ABS will increase vehicle control during braking.
2 DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI 12 C310B01TG-AAT ! ESC ON/OFF Mode CAUTION: Driving with varying tire or wheel sizes may cause the ESC system to malfunction. When replacing tires, make sure they are the same size as your original tires. C310A01TG-A The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system is designed to stabilize the vehicle during cornering manuevers. ESC checks where you are steering and where the vehicle is actually going.
DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI 2 13 C310D01NF-AAT ! WARNING: ESC will not prevent accidents due to improper or dangerous driving maneuvers. Even though vehicle control is improved during emergency braking, always maintain a safe distance between you and objects ahead. Vehicle speeds should always be reduced during extreme road conditions. The braking distance for cars equipped with an Electronic Stability Control System may be longer than for those without it in the following road conditions.
2 DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI 14 GOOD BRAKING PRACTICES C130A02A-AAT ! WARNING: o Whenever leaving vehicle or parking, always set the parking brake as far as possible and fully engage the vehicle's transaxle into the park position. Vehicles not fully engaged in park with the parking brake set are at risk for moving inadvertently and injuring yourself or others.
DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI DRIVING FOR ECONOMY o Under some conditions your parking brake can freeze in the engaged position. This is most likely to happen when there is an accumulation of snow or ice around or near the rear brakes or if the brakes are wet. If there is a risk that the parking brake may freeze, apply it only temporarily while you put the gear selector lever in "P" (automatic) or in first or reverse gear (manual transaxle) and block the rear wheels so the car cannot roll.
2 DRIVING YOUR HYUNDAI SMOOTH CORNERING 16 o Travel lightly. Don't carry unnecessary weight in your car. Weight reduces fuel economy. o Don't let the engine idle longer than necessary. If you are waiting (and not in traffic), turn off your engine and restart only when you're ready to go. o Remember, your Hyundai does not require extended warm-up. After the engine has started, allow the engine to run for 10 to 20 seconds prior to placing the vehicle in gear.
