8.Positionthenewmemorymoduleoverthememoryslot.Makesurethatthenotch1onthenewmemory
moduleisalignedwiththekey2inthememoryslot.Then,pressthenewmemorymodulestraightdown
intothememoryslotuntiltheretainingclipscloseandthenewmemorymodulesnapsintoposition.
Note:Ifthereisagapbetweenthememorymoduleandtheretainingclips,thememorymodulehas
notbeencorrectlyinstalled.Opentheretainingclips,removethememorymodule,andthenreinstallit
intothememoryslotuntiltheretainingclipsarecompletelyclosed.

Removingamemorymodule

Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Note:Tooptimizesystemperformance,makesurethatyouconsiderandfollowthememorymodule
installationruleswhenperformingtheoperation.See“Memorymoduleinstallationrules”onpage90.
Toremoveamemorymodule,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage85.
3.Laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
4.Locatethememoryslotsonthesystemboard.See“Systemboardcomponents”onpage42.
5.Removeanypartsordisconnectanycablesthatmightpreventyouraccesstothememoryslots.
