RemovingtheRAIDcard

ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoremovetheRAIDcard.
Attention:MakesurethatyoubackupyourdatabeforeremovingtheRAIDcardbecauseyoumightneedto
recongureRAIDandreinstalltheoperatingsystemafterremovingtheRAIDcard.IfyouremovetheRAID
card,youwilllosetheadvancedSATA/SAShardwareRAIDfunctions.Also,aspecicRAIDcardisrequired
forservermodelswithmorethanfourharddiskdrivesormodelsthatuseSASharddiskdrives.
Beforeyoubegin,printalltherelatedinstructionsorensurethatyoucanviewthePDFversiononanother
computerforreference.
Note:UseanydocumentationthatcomeswiththeRAIDcardandfollowthoseinstructionsinadditionto
theinstructionsinthistopic.
ToremovetheRAIDcard,dothefollowing:
1.Removeallmediafromthedrivesandturnoffallattacheddevicesandtheserver.Then,disconnectall
powercordsfromelectricaloutletsanddisconnectallcablesthatareconnectedtotheserver.
2.Removetheservercover.See“Removingtheservercover”onpage85.
3.Laytheserveronitssideforeasieroperation.
4.LocatetheRAIDcard,whichisinstalledinthePCI-Eslot3onthesystemboard.See“Systemboard
components”onpage42.
5.Removeanypartsordisconnectanycablesthatmightimpedeyouroperation.
6.DisconnectallcablesfromtheRAIDcardandanyotherrelatedparts.
Note:IfyouwanttoinstallanewRAIDcardafterremovingtheoldone,notedownthecable
connectionsbeforedisconnectingthecables.
7.TheRAIDcardisakindofPCIcard.See“RemovingaPCIcard”onpage95andfollowthose
