ConguringtheTPMfunction
TheTPMfunctionprovidesahardwaresecuritysolutiontoencryptdataandprotecttheserver.TheTPM
functionisonlyavailablewhenthereisaTPMmoduleinstalledinyourserver.See“InstallingtheTPM
module”onpage109
.YoucanpurchaseaTPMmodulefromLenovo.
AfterinstallingaTPMmodule,youneedtocheckiftheTPMfunctionisenabledintheSetupUtilityprogram.
ToenabletheTPMfunctionintheSetupUtilityprogram,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage55.
2.OntheSecuritymenu,selectTPMSupport.MakesurethattheTPMSupportissettoEnabled.
3.WhentheTPMSupportissettoEnabled,theTPMStateitemisdisplayed.SettheTPMStateto
Enabled.
4.PressF10tosavesettingsandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.Theserverwillrestartinordertoenable
theTPMfunction.
Selectingastartupdevice
Ifyourserverdoesnotstartupfromadesireddevicesuchasthediscorharddiskdriveasexpected,doone
ofthefollowingtoselectthestartupdeviceyouwant:

•Toselectatemporarystartupdevice,dothefollowing:

1.Turnonorrestartyourserver.
2.Whenyouseethelogoscreen,pressF12todisplaythebootmenu.Thebootdeviceselection
windowopens.Ifyourserverisconnectedtoanetworkandyouwanttostartuptheserverfromthe
network,pressF10.
3.Inthebootdeviceselectionwindow,usetheupanddownarrowkeysonthekeyboardtoswitch
betweentheselections.PressEntertoselectthedeviceofyourchoice.Then,theserverwillstart
upfromtheselecteddevice.
•Tovieworpermanentlychangetheconguredstartupdevicesequence,dothefollowing:
1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage55.
2.OntheBootOptionsmenu,followtheinstructionsonthescreentosetthestartupdeviceforBoot
Option#1toBootOption#5dependingonyourneeds.Youcanalsosetthebootpriorityforvarious
