sequenceyouhaveseteachtimeyouturnontheserver.
ExitingtheSetupUtilityprogram
Afteryounishviewingorchangingsettings,pressEsctoreturntotheSetupUtilityprogrammaininterface.
Ifyouareonanestedsubmenu,pressEscrepeatedlyuntilyoureachthemaininterface.Then,youcan
dooneofthefollowing:
•IfyouwanttosavethenewsettingsandexittheSetupUtilityprogram,pressF10.Otherwise,your
changeswillnotbesaved.
•Ifyoudonotwanttosavethenewsettings,selectExit➙DiscardChangesandExit.
•Ifyouwanttoreturntothedefaultsettings,pressF9orselectExit➙LoadDefaultValues.

UpdatingorrecoveringtheBIOS
ThistopicprovidesinstructionsonhowtoupdatetheBIOSandhowtorecoverfromaPOSTandBIOS
updatefailure.
Systemprogramsarethebasiclayerofsoftwarebuiltintoyourserver.SystemprogramsincludethePOST,
theUEFIBIOS,theSetupUtilityprogram,andtheBMCrmware.ThePOSTisasetoftestsandprocedures
thatareperformedeachtimeyouturnonyourserver.TheUEFIBIOSisalayerofsoftwarethattranslates
instructionsfromotherlayersofsoftwareintoelectricalsignalsthattheserverhardwarecanexecute.You
canusetheSetupUtilityprogramtovieworchangethecongurationsettingsofyourserver.See“Using
theSetupUtilityprogram”onpage55
.TheBMCrmwareworkstogetherwithaniKVMkeytoprovide
advancedservermanagementfeatures.
Yourserversystemboardhasamodulecalledelectricallyerasableprogrammableread-onlymemory
(EEPROM,alsoreferredtoasashmemory).YoucaneasilyupdatethePOST,theBIOSandBMC
rmware,andtheSetupUtilityprogrambystartingyourserverwithasystem-program-updatediscora
bootableUSBkey.
LenovomightmakechangesandenhancementstotheBIOSandBMCrmware.Whenupdatesarereleased,
theyareavailablefordownloadontheLenovoSupportWebsiteathttp://www.lenovo.com/support.
InstructionsforusingtheupdatesareavailableinaTXTlethatisincludedwiththeupdateles.You
candownloadaself-startingdiscimage(knownasanISOimage)fortheupdateprogramandcreatea
system-program-updatediscorcopyalllesintheBIOSupdatepackagetoabootableUSBkeyandstart
theserverfromtheUSBkey.
