7. UNIT OPERATION
Please ensure that you have read and fully understood all of the Safety
Precautions and Limitations of Use listed in Section 5 before
attempting to operate the PSS‐1 unit.
7.1 User Touch Screen Display and Controls
The unit’s user interface consists of a large high definition color LCD display which has
an integrated touch screen that will support multi‐finger gestures. (The touch screen
is designed to operate when wearing standard laboratory gloves.)
The unit is controlled through an application that runs on the PSS‐1 unit that has been
designed to match the operation of the Real‐Time PCR Thermal Cycler to the normal
experimental procedures used by Biotechnologist’s so that it is intuitive and so easy to
use.
7.2 Operation of the PSS-1 RT-PCR system
7.2.1 Turning onPSS‐1
Before connecting PSS‐1 to the mains
electrical connection make sure that the
voltage and frequency detailed on the
label at the rear of the unit matches the
supply voltage.
