Before transmitting, monitor your selected op-
erating frequency to make sure transmitting
won’t cause interference to other stations on
the same frequency. It’s good Amateur practice
to listen first. On the HF bands, even if nothing
is heard, ask “is the frequency in use” once or
twice, before you begin operating on that fre-
quency.
D Microphone lock function
This function locks microphone keypads.
Push and hold [SPCH/LOCK] (microphone) for 1
sec. to toggle the microphone lock function ON
and OFF.
•“MIC LOCK ON” and “MIC LOCK OFF,” popup indica-
tors appear, respectively
[PTT] and [SPCH/LOCK] can be used.
All keys on the transceiver can be used.

Lock functions
The dial lock function prevents accidental change
caused by [DIAL].
Push and hold [SPCH/LOCK] for 1 sec. to turn the
dial lock function ON and OFF.
•“ ” indicator appears while the dial lock function is
activated.

The lock function can only be activated when display-
ing frequency, not in set mode or memory channel list-
ing display.
