FOREWORD This instruction manual explains basic operation of the 144 MHz FM TRANSCEIVER., When you require additional information, refer to a separate’ sheet called “Tech Talk. " available from our nearest [com Dealer or Service Center.
IMPORTANT READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS carefully and completely before using the transceiver. SAVE THIS INSTRUCTION MANUAL This instruction manual contains important safety snd operating instructions for the The use of non-lg com battery packs/chargers may impair transceiver performance and invalidate the warranty. OPERATING NOTES BE CAREFUL! When transmigrating for a long time with ‘high output power, the rear panel may become hot.
SLIM AND UNBELIEVABLY COMPACT Transceiver dimensions are Just 49 mn {1.971W x 103.6 (1.3 These are dimensions that include the BP-82 BATTERY PACK! And the rounded body design gives you a feeling of even smaller transceiver dimensions. CONVENIENT, SIMPLE OPERATION The 1C2SA/SEs uncomplicated design includes just 6 switches and 3 controls. This design ensures easy operation. Else. no double controls are incorporated, making opera son even sassier. EXTERNAL DC POWER JACK Another loom innovation.

The 100 kHz tuning step provides Buick frequency select) Rotate [VOL] to turn power ON, son. 2} Be sure VEO mode is selected. 1) Push [FUN] then rotate the tuning control. o If “MR” appears above the me-: miry channel number, push [V/M] to select VEO mode. 2) Push [FUN] again to return to normal step operation. Appears ’—1 Mme Ed o T— Appears under the 100 kHz digit, {EXAMPLE] Setting a frequency using the tuning control ably.
4 BASIC OPERATION 4-2 Receiving 11 Set [SOL] control to maximum counterclockwise, 2) Rowe [VOL] 1o turn power ON and stadium audio volume. 31 Rotate [SOL] clockwise until noise disappears. 4} Set the operating frequency. & See Section 4 1 for details. 5) When-a signal Is received on sate frequency: s Squelch opens and audio is emitted from the speaker. ¢ The 5/RE indicator shows relative signal strength: 6) Use [MONITOR! when a weak signal cannot open the squelch completely. 1} Set the operating frequency.
B SELECTING OUTPUT POWER Quirt power can be selected for High and dishevels of Low power. | Select tout desired output power, depending on your communication distance, SELECTING HIGH OR LOW OUTPUT POWER i | MERE & oW Mirror 1} Push [DUNG] then push the PIT switch: o "LOW" appears when Low power is selected. 2) Push [FUNGI again, then push the PTT switch. » High output power is selected. 4 BASIC OPERATION 4-4 Repeater Operation When operating the transceiver with a station through a repeater, the repeater transmits your signal, allowing you 10 communicate with long distance stations even when low output power is selected. FUTURE then fal oo | “9E0 o _(ONION] B 1750 Hz TONE CALL (Europe version) 1) Quickly push the PTT switch 2 times and briefly hold the switch down (second push}. s A 1750 Hz tone is transmitted. 2} Release and then push the PTT switch again to transmit your voice signal.
5-1 Call channel A one touch access call channel s provided for using your most often used frequency. The call channel is separate from memory channels: (1) ACCESSING THE CALL CHANNEL 1) Push [C] to call up the call channel. 2) Push [C] again ta return to the previous mode, I RELATED FUNCTIONS 5 Il (2] PROGRAMMING THE CALL CHANNEL 1) Set the transceiver in VEQ mode using 2} Set the desired: frequency {and Duplex, if desired) to be programmed. ! 3) 1o call up the ¢all channel.
12 5 RELATED FUNCTIONS 5-2 Memory mode The transceiver has 48 memory channels for storing your most often used frequencies for use with repeaters; group calls, etc. Where first applying prows or after resetting, memory channels 10 ~ 47 are blank.
(3) PROGRAMMING THE MEMORY CHANNEL 1) Set the transceiver in MEMORY mode using [VIGIL 2) Rotate the tuning control to select the memory channel programmed. s To select a blank channel, push TRUNCATE] then rotate the tuning control. 3) Push [V/M] 1o select VFO mode. 4] Set the desired frequency (and Duplex, if desired). 5] Push [FUN] . then push and hold: [V/M] until 3 short beeps are heard.
5 RELATED FUNCTIONS 5-3 Scanning (1) SCAN TYPES s VFO SCAN Repeatedly scans all freeborn sad o quenches in the entire 144 e ol MMz band. The frequency Stan skip function can be used. X e « MEMORY SCAN Repeatedly scans all me: miry channels in sequence. L e SCANNING DIRECTION W Scan normally operates in @ an upward direction. Scanning, however, can be «4} selected ina downward Or upward direction by rotating @ \ the tuning control.

MEMORY mode for memory scan. 2} Rotate SILO] until riser is muted, 3} Push [FUN] then push [C] to start 3 scan.
5 RELATED FUNCTIONS 5-4 Auto power off function The transceiver has an auto power off function. If vou forget to tun OFE the transceiver, the function automatically: turns OFE: the receiver and transmitter circuits 60 minutes after a switch is pushed. After the circuits are OFF. the function display shows clock time, and then the transceiver stops operating: Amer B0 min. R ] To operate the transceiver, turn power OFF then ON again.
MAINTENANCE 6-1 Troubleshooting POSSIBLE CAUSE: | SOLUTION ® No power comes ON: are erased. charging has been performed for along time. charged simultaneous. o Battery pack requires charging: i . Charge the battery pack. B @ Poor connection between the battery pack e Clean debris from the terminals of the bat: handheld transceiver. Wiy pack perseverance. & No sound comes from the e [SQLITE turned tao far clockwise. o Notate (SLOT counterclockwise, BB speaker. * Battery pack requires charring.
6 MAINTENANCE 6-2 Backup battery The transceiver s skipped with a rechargeable lithium backup battery for retaining memory information. The backup battery s automatically charged when a battery pack is connected. Backup battery replacement is therefore not necessary every 5 years, Catalonia Attach the charged battery pack and ;the transceiver Mother, the may discharge after 1 week. 6-3 Cleaning Hf the transceiver becomes dusty or dirty wipe it clean with dry, soft cloth.
