How can I tell my iControl box is communicating with the iControl servers?
When looking at the System tab on the iControl portal, a green dot should appear next to
Gateway. If the dot is red, make sure that the iControl box is connected to your router via
an Ethernet cable and check that the iControl box has power. (The Power LED on the
front panel of the iControl box is green when it has power). Next, check to see if your
router and DSL or cable modem are working, and make sure that you have access to the
Internet. If you can browse the Internet, your modem and Internet connection are
working. Refresh your browser window and log in if necessary. If the dot is still red, reset
your iControl box by pressing the reset button on the back of the box (it is recessed, you
may need a paperclip in order to do this). If the problem persists, contact
support@icontrol.com.
What do I do if I cant see the device I just installed?
Click on the System tab and see if there is a red dot next to the devices name in the
System window. If so, confirm that the device type and ID are entered correctly. Click on
the devices name, and then look on the right hand side of the resulting page. There will
be a field labeled ID, the number in this field should match the Serial Number (S/N)
printed on the label of the device.
What should I do if my device just seems to keep installing the dot is still
yellow?
1. Confirm that the device is plugged in (if it has a power supply).
2. Confirm that the device type and ID shown on the Device page match the
type and serial number of the actual device. (Go to your System tab and
click on a device name to bring up the Device page.).
3. Activate the device. If it is a Motion sensor, wave your hand in front of it to
force it to communicate its status. If it is a Door/Window sensor, open and
close the door. If it is a Keychain Remote, press a button. For Water and
Freeze sensors, apply water or ice. For a CO detector or Smoke/Heat
sensor, press the Test button. For a Panic pendant or wristwatch, press
the Panic button. Then wait a few moments for your iControl box to
discover the device and change the dot to green.
4. If it is a camera, see Section 10.4, About your Camera, or visit the related
FAQ.
5. Confirm that your iControl box has a green dot next to it. If it does not,
unplug and plug back in the power supply to the iControl box. Wait a few
minutes for the System to restore itself. You will see the devices details,
including its type and ID. Make sure that the type and ID match those for
