• Check the device overlay to make sure it is intact.
• Power on the device to check the beeper and the display message:
o Make sure there is no beeping that indicates the tamper was triggered.
o Read the firmware version to make sure the version number is correct.
• Check the device appearance to make sure there are no holes on the
• device or any suspicious objects around the ICC card slot.
10. Decommissioning PCI-Certified Devices
All PCI-certified devices require proper decommissioning prior to device disposal in order to ensure
