SET UP AND INSTALLATION
1. Remove screws from sensor

in the sensor (Fig.2)
3. Before you install the sensor, the garage door must be closed. Position the sensor
at the bottom of your garage door with sensor rod on bottom. Make sure unit is
level to ensure that the rod has a straight up and down path. Shim unit (with
double-sided adhesive foam shims provided) away from door if weather stripping
on bottom of door is preventing the rod from extending straight down. (Fig.3)
4. You can install the sensor with double-sided adhesive foam shims provided or the
three screws. If mounting with the foam shims make sure that door surface is
clean, dry and smooth to ensure a good adhesion. Once installed, the bottom of
the unit must be no more than 15mm (1/2”) from the floor. (Fig. 4 & Fig. 5)
5. Place receiver/ alarm at desired location without installing. Test the reception
range of the receiver first by turning the receiver on and opening the garage door.
If the receiver picks up the signal (beeps or light flashes) you may permanently
install the receiver. If not, try another location closer to the sensor.
LINK TO A RECEIVER
The garage door sensor MUST BE LINKED to any of Ideal Security’s SK6SERIES
receivers in order to receive notifications.
Instructions for linking to any of Ideal’s receivers/alarms are included in the
instructions of the receiver/alarm. Follow the instructions in the receiver/alarm
manuals to set them into learning / linking mode. Once the receiver
(alert/siren/outlet/dialer) is in LEARN mode, “activatethe garage alert sensor by
releasing the rod from the housing. Once you receive confirmation that learning is
successful, you can continue with the installation.
The SK6 Series receivers will receive the signal from the SK646 and will respond in
the following manner:
Dialer: Will initiate the calling sequence as designed. The cycle will not be repeated.
Outlet: Will activate the outlet as set up by the user. Single response from the outlet.
Siren: Will activate and proceed through 1 regular cycle.
Alert (SK664): When alarm is triggered the two outer
LED lights will flash and you will hear an alarm for 10
seconds, then silence for 1 minute, while the two outer
LED lights will continue to flash. The alarm sounds again
for 10 seconds and silence for 4 minutes, then alarm
again for 10 seconds then silence for 14 minutes. After
that it will sound every 10 minutes until sensor is turned
off or disarmed. The lights will continue to flash as long
as the sensor is still activated.
Remote Controls: The Ideal SK629 remote controls
can be linked to the SK6 Series receivers above. The
SK629 will only arm/disarm the receivers linked but will
not stop the signals from the SK646 being sent. There is
no On / Off switch on the SK646. Power is on as soon as
the battery is installed. Test the signal monthly if not
using the alert on a regular basis.
IMPORTANT NOTES
The SK646 Garage door sensor must be connected to an Ideal Security
SK6 SERIES receiver for any notification. The garage door sensor does not
make any sound or light up, it is a sensor-transmitter only. See LINK TO A
RECEIVER for Ideal receiver options, for local or remote notification.
An Ideal SK6 Series remote control can be linked to conveniently
activate/deactivate the sound of a linked receiver
The sensor and any connected receiver should be installed away from heat
sources such as radiators, heating ducts and stoves.
The connected receiver / alarm can warn you that your garage door has been
opened, or has been left open.
Prior to finalizing the installation of the sensor on your garage door, ensure that
the sensor does not interfere with the opening and closing of the door and the
safety sensor beam that may be installed with an electric garage door opener.
We recommended that batteries be replaced annually.
