8 Troubleshooting
After failing to boot ve times within 90 seconds, the reader will fall back to the previous image and attempt
to boot again. This behavior enables the reader to boot when the main boot image is corrupt or has other
issues.
8.1 Returning to the Default Conguration
If you are experiencing a problem with the reader and are having diculty pinpointing the cause, it is useful
to return the reader to a known state. We recommend resetting to the default conguration. Then try your
reader again.
Important: Conguration Default Restore returns the reader conguration to its default state. It leaves
any custom applications installed in the CAP intact. To restore the reader to its default state and remove
any CAP contents, use Factory Default Restore.
There are two ways to return the Impinj R700 reader to its defaults:
1. Issue an RShell command. This leaves any installed CAP in place.
2. Press the Default Restore button on the device. This removes any installed CAP.
To use RShell to return the reader to its default conguration and leave CAP intact
1. At the RShell prompt, enter the following command:
> config image default
When the command completes successfully, the reader automatically reboots and returns to the login
prompt.
2. Log in to the reader. The reader is now running with the default conguration, and CAP applications
are intact.
To use the Default Restore button on the reader to restore to its default conguration and
remove any CAP
1. Power o the reader.
2. Use an object with a sharp tip, such as a probe or paper clip, to press and hold the Default Restore
button on the back of the reader while the reader is powered o.
3. Be sure to be pressing the Default Restore button while plugging in power to the reader.
4. Release the Default Restore button when the LED blinks blue once, when 5 or more seconds have
passed. The reader will boot up normally with the default conguration and any installed CAP will
have been removed.
Caution: When you press the Default Restore button, press straight down, and only hard enough to
make the button move. Otherwise, you might damage the Impinj R700 reader.
Avertissement: Lorsque vous appuyez sur le bouton de restauration par défaut, appuyez tout droit
vers le bas, et seulement assez fort pour faire bouger le bouton. Sinon, vous risquez d’endommager le Impinj
R700 lecteur.
