Installation Instructions

Save Space Save Energy Reduce Fire Hazard
Various mechanical and electrical components may be
behind the drywall near the location of your dryer. To
ensure this Retrot Dryerbox can install properly, cut an
8" x 8" inspection hole in the drywall about 10" above
the oor directly above the existing dryer exhaust port.
Hold the cutting blade at a 45° angle towards the center
so patchwork will be easier, if necessary.
Recommended Tools: Pencil • Drywall Cutting Blade • Metal Cutoff Blade or Tin Snips • Crimpers
Mark and cut the
rigid pipe about
1 ¾" from the lower
edge of the drywall
near the top of the
cut out cavity.

Conrm that the Dryerbox has been pushed ush against the wall and the rigid pipe has penetrated through the it’s port.
Use screws on the bottom plate to secure the connection. The Dryerbox is held in place by the two screws on the bottom
and rigid pipe support on the top. Lastly, caulk the baseboard and any gaps to complete installation.
(a) Find the center of the rigid pipe and measure 5" to the left of that center line
and mark. With the ange edge touching the drywall, align the left edge of the
Dryerbox on the marked spot to begin your template trace. Normal installs should
have the port facing up and the bottom touching the oor. Trace around all edges
and remove the retro Dryerbox from resting on
the wall.
(b) Draw three inner cut lines by measuring 3/8"
down from the top of the trace lines and 7/8"
from the left and right sides.
(c) Cut drywall along inner trace lines and cut
baseboard along outside trace line. This lets the
box recess back while allowing the ange to rest
against the drywall.
(a) Crimp the rigid pipe all the way around the 4"
opening. This will narrow the pipe and allow for a
smooth connection inside the Dryerbox’s duct port.
(b) Place the top of the Dryerbox into the cutout cavity
and align the pipe through the port opening. Be
careful when recessing the Dryerbox so the rigid
pipe is not compromised.
