temperature and a stable thermal condition.
3.Choose the appropriate airway adapter and connect it to the sensor head. The airway
adapter clicks into place when seated correctly.
4. To zero the sensor:
Expose the sensor to room air and keep it away from all sources of CO2 including
theventilator, the patient's breath and your own.
In the setup menu for the CO2, select Zero.
–After clicking the "zero" button, the prompt message zero calibration in progress will
appear on screen. When it disappears, the zero calibration has been completed and you can start
monitoring.
5. Install the airway adapter at the proximal end of the circuit between the elbow and the
ventilator Y section.
13.5.2 Preparing to Measure Sidestream CO2
When ambient temperature change exceeds over 10
(like,
equipment transferring), Rezeroing must be performed with
the
instructions specified by this manual.
1. Plug the sensor cable into the monitor's CO2 input
connector.
Allow the sensor two minutes warm up time.
2. Connect the cannula, airway adapter, or sample line as
appropriate,
to the sensor. It will click into place when seated correctly.
3. Please follow 13.5.1 Step 3, 4, 5.
WARNING
When perform a zero calibration during the measurement, disconnect the transducer from the
patient’s airway first.
Do not rely on the gas readings when zeroing.
NOTE
Be sure to set the barometric pressure properly before using the mainstream CO2 module.
Improper settings will result in erroneous CO2 reading.
Always position the sensor with the adapter in an upright position to avoid collection of
fluids on the windows of the adapter. Large concentrations of fluids at this point will obstruct
gas analysis.
