BEFORE YOU INSTALL THIS ARM...
IMPORTANT! YOUR NEW 3910039103 MUST BE ASSEMBLED, 39101/39102 & 39104/39105 already have the ball joints pressed into the plate
and are designated for passenger or driver side of the vehicle. It is recomended the the installtion and camber adjustment be performed BY A
PROFESSIONAL TECHNICIAN!!
PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW COMPLETE INSTRUCTIONS TO ASSURE CORRECT INSTALLATION!
Removal Instructions
1. IMPORT ANT! Check alignment and document the readings. Calculate the amount of camber change needed before proceeding.
2. Raise vehicle by the pinch weld, support with jack stands and remove the tire and wheel assembly.
3. Remove the cotter pin and nut from the upper ball joint. Break the taper between the upper ball joint and spindle and
remove the ball joint stud from the spindle.
4. Remove the bolts holding the upper control arm to the body . Remove the upper control arm.
5. Make note of the indexing marks on the base of the ball joint and the control arm. Remove the wire ring that
holds the dust boot to the ball joint. Remove the snap ring (if present) holding the upper ball joint in place then remove the upper ball
joint from the control arm.
Assembly and Adjustment
6. For passenger side installation, install the OE ball joint down into the sliding ball joint mount with the “R" stamped on the mount
facing up. For driver side installation, install the OE ball joint down into the sliding ball joint mount with the “L" st amped on the
mount facing up. When installing the ball joint, line up the index mark on the base of the ball joint with the index mark
on the sliding block. See illustration below . Reinstall snap ring and boot.
7. Install the sliding ball joint mount to the new control arm with the bolts inserted through the bottom of the control arm.
Add lock nuts to bolts and snug.
8. See figure #2. On the new upper control arm each line represents 1 degree. Slide the ball joint mount in
(for negative change) or out (for positive change) until the center of the inside mounting bolt is even with the
line that matches the camber change desired. Torque bolts to 20 ft. lbs.
Installation
9. Reinstall the upper control arm to the body using the OE bolt s. Do Not Torque at this time.
10. Install the ball joint to the spindle, torque nut to 29-35 f t lbs.and install the cotter pin.
11. Reinstall the tire & wheel assembly . Remove vehicle from jack stands, with the weight of the vehicle on the tires torque the control arm
to body bolts to 40 f t. lbs.
12. Install alignment equipment and check alignment. Adjust toe if needed.
NOTE. Moving the adjuster positive may cause interference between the control arm and inner fender . Altering the inner fender will be necessary in
these cases.
