Controls FRONT OF THE TV The buttons on the front panel control our TV’s basic features, including the on-screen menu. To use the more advanced features, you must use the remote control. REMOTE CONTROL All the functions can be controlled with this remote control unit. Some functions can also be adjusted with the buttons on the front panel of the set. POWER ON STANDBY Turns the TV on. Turns the TV off. AUTOSET PC AUTO POWER ON Press to center the screen automatically in PC mode. 1 SLEEP 2 3 PC AUTO Press to select a preset time interval for automatic shutoff. SLEEP Displays the main on-screen menu. ENTER Press to display current status or enter into certain sub menu.
Installations CONNECTING VHF AND UHF ANTENNAS Please be certain that TV is unplugged from the AC outlet before making any connections. Since different component often have different terminal names, carefully read the operating instructions of the component connected. If your antenna has a set of leads that look like this, see Antennas with 300-ohm Flat Twin Leads below. If your antenna has one lead that looks like this, see “Antennas with 75-ohm Round Leads” below.
Separate VHF and UHF Antennas If you have two separate antennas for your TV (one VHF and one UHF), you must combine the two antenna signals before connecting the antennas to the TV. This procedure requires an optional combiner-adaptor (available at most electronics shops). 1 Connect both antenna leads to the combiner. 2 Plug the combiner into the TV antenna terminal on the rear panel. UHF VHF TV ANTENNA UHF VHF CONNECTING CABLE TV To connect to a cable TV system, follow the instructions below.
2 TV ANTENNA Connect the other end of this cable to the TV antenna terminal on the rear panel. Connecting to a Cable Box that Descrambles Some Channels If your cable box descrambles only some channels (such as premium channels), follow the instructions below. You will need a two-way splitter, an RF(A/B) switch, and four lengths of coaxial cable. (These items are available at most electronics stores.) 1 Find and disconnect the cable that is connected to the ANTENNA IN terminal on your cable box.

CONNECTING A S-VHS VCR Your TV can be connected to an s-video signal from an S-VHS VCR. (This connection delivers a better picture as compared to a standard VHS VCR.) 1 To begin, follow steps 1-3 in the previous section to connect the antenna or cable to your VCR and your TV. CONNECTING DTV(SET-TOP BOX) The connections for a typical set-top box are shown below. Connect a set of audio cable between the AUDIO L/R jacks on the TV and the AUDIO OUT jacks on the set-top box. Connect a video cable between the COMPONENT(CR, CB, Y) jacks on the TV and the Pr, Pb, Y jacks on the set-top box.
INSTALLING BATTERIES IN THE REMOTE CONTROL 1 Pull the battery cover upward in the directions shown by the arrow and remove it. 2 Insert two batteries (AAA size). Make sure to match the “+” and “-” ends of the batteries with the diagram inside the compartment. 3 Replace the battery cover. + + The remote control can be used up to about 23 feet from the TV. Remove the batteries and store them in a cool, dry place if you won t be using the remote control for a long time.

ADJUSTING CLOSED CAPTION SETTINGS This TV is equipped with an internal closed caption decoder. Closed caption is a system which allows conversations, narration, and sound effects in TV programs and home videos to be viewed as captions on the TV screen (see the illustration). Not all programs and videos will offer closed captioning. Please look for the “ cc “ symbol to ensure that captions will be shown. The closed caption broadcasts can be viewed in two modes: caption and text.
