Insignia 40" LED TV Connecting headphones When you connect headphones, the TV speakers are muted. Warning Loud noise can damage your hearing. When using headphones, use the lowest volume setting on your headphones that still lets you hear the sound. Cautions • Batteries should not be exposed to excessive heat, such as sunshine, heat registers, or fire. • Battery chemicals can cause a rash. If the batteries leak, clean the battery compartment with a cloth. If chemicals touch your skin, wash immediately.
Insignia 40" LED TV Turning on your TV for the first time The first time you turn on your TV, the TV SETUP wizard opens. The wizard guides you through setting up basic settings including the menu language, time setting, picture mode, TV signal source, and the channel list. 1 Make sure that you have: • Installed the remote control batteries. (See page 35 for details.) • Connected an antenna, cable TV, or satellite TV. (See page 13 through 18 for details.) • Connected the power cord.

Using INlink INlink lets you control HDMI CEC-compatible devices connected to the HDMI jacks on your TV using the remote control that came with your TV. To use INlink, you must set the INlink Control setting on the SETTINGS · INlink menu to On.
Insignia 40" LED TV Turning Device Auto Power Off on or off 42 Turning TV Auto Power On on or off When INlink is set to On, Device Auto Power Off automatically turns off HDMI CEC devices when you turn off your TV. 1 Press MENU. The on-screen menu opens. 2 Press W or X to highlight SETTINGS, then press T or ENTER. The SETTINGS menu opens. TV Auto Power On automatically turns on your TV when an HDMI CEC device is turned on, if the device has this feature. 1 Press MENU. The on-screen menu opens.

The on-screen menu opens. 2 Press W or X to highlight SETTINGS, then press T or ENTER. The SETTINGS menu opens. 3 Press S or T to highlight INlink, then press ENTER. The SETTINGS · INlink menu opens.

NS-40D510MX15 Insignia 40" LED TV Using a USB flash drive Browsing photos You can connect a USB flash drive to your TV to view compatible JPEG pictures. 1 Switch to USB mode. See “Switching to USB mode” on page 45. The PHOTOS menu opens. Notes • Never remove the USB flash drive or turn off your TV while viewing JPEG pictures. • The JPEG picture viewer only supports JPEG format images (with “.jpg” file extensions) and not all JPEG files are compatible with your TV.
Insignia 40" LED TV When a photo is displayed full-screen, a control bar appears at the bottom of the photo. The file name, picture resolution, size, and date are displayed on the bottom of the control bar. If you do not press a button within 10 seconds, the control bar closes. Press INFO to open the control bar again. 4 To navigate on the photo screen, press: • W to go to the previous photo. • X to go to the next photo. • ENTER to rotate the photo clockwise.

Return to the previous photo. Go to the next photo. Pause the slideshow. Press again to resume the slideshow. Pause the slideshow. When paused, press to resume the slideshow. Press to stop the slideshow and return to the thumbnail index.
Insignia 40" LED TV • Game—Adjusts the picture for the ultimate gaming experience. Note Game is only available when the video input is set to HDMI, Component/AV, or VGA. • Custom—(customized picture). Lets you manually adjust picture settings such as brightness, contrast, and sharpness. Note You can also press PICTURE to select the picture mode. • Backlight—Sets the overall brilliance of the screen. • Brightness—Adjusts the brightness of the dark areas of the picture.

The on-screen menu opens. 2 Press W or X to highlight CHANNELS, then press T or ENTER. The CHANNELS menu opens. 4 Press S or T to highlight Power on in Vivid Mode, then press ENTER.

Adjusting the sound Adjusting sound settings You can adjust sound settings to improve the sound quality. You also can reset all sound settings to the factory default. 1 Press MENU. The on-screen menu opens.

The following screen opens. 4 Press S or T to select On. 5 Press MENU to return to the previous menu, or press EXIT to close the menu.

Read the message, then press ENTER to start the channel scan (VHF channels only).
