RCA-type AV connections are usually color coded: red, white, and yellow. Use red plugs to connect right-channel audio inputs and outputs (typically labeled “R”). This is great for listening to your CDs and MP3s, and DVDs and VCDs will sound better too. You can also enjoy Dolby Surround, if your amp supports Dolby Pro Logic. digital noise may be heard, which may damage your equipment.
Connecting the DPC-8.5—Continued Controlling Components That Are Out of Range You can use the following multiroom kits to control the DPC-8.5 when it’s out of range of the remote controller: • Onkyo Multi-Room System (IR Remote Controller Extension System) • Multiroom AV distribution and control systems such as those made by Niles and Xantech.

Doing so may cause an electric shock.

Choose 2 Channel if you’re connecting the FRONT AUDIO OUTs to a stereo amp. Choose Multi Channel if you’re connecting the FRONT, SURR 1/SURR 2, CENTER, and SUBWOOFER AUDIO OUTs to a multichannel amp. If you select 2 Channel, the setup is complete and the Initial Setup menu closes.

The Title, Artist Name, and Album Name information is also displayed.

If the resolution exceeds 640 x 480, a preview will only be shown if the file contains thumbnail image data.

Advanced Playback—Continued Turning Off the Video Circuits You can turn off all of the internal video circuitry, eliminating the possibility of interference, for a pure-audio experience when playing audio-only discs. 1 Press the DPC-8.5’s [Video Circuit Off] button. The internal video circuitry is turned off, the [Video Circuit Off] button indicator lights up, and the V.OFF indicator appears on the display. 2 To turn the video circuitry back on, press the button again.

Depending on how you connect the DPC-8.5 to your other components, this can be useful in certain situations. On (default) OPTICAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT is on. Off OPTICAL DIGITAL AUDIO OUTPUT is off. Notes: • This setting has no effect on the analog audio outputs. Digital Out/Digital2 (COAXIAL) With these settings you can determine how the DPC-8.

Multichannel audio will be downmixed into 2 channels and output by the FRONT AUDIO OUTPUTs. ■ Stereo Lt/Rt (Downmix) To access this setting, select 2 Channel, and then press the [Enter] or Right [ ] button.

Remedy The power cord is not connected. Connect the power cord to a suitable wall outlet (page 26). External interference is affecting the DPC-8.5’s digital circuitry. Turn off the DPC-8.5, wait five seconds, then try turning it on again.
