Advanced Speaker Connection
Bi-Amping
It is possible to connect speakers supporting bi-amping to

played in bi-amping.
Connections
1.
Connect as below using the FRONT terminals and
HEIGHT 1 (Bi-AMP) terminals.

Tweeter (treble)
Woofer (bass)

Turn the unit on and make the bi-amping setting.

After pressing Receiver, press Home on the remote
controller.

Select "Setup" with the cursors and press Enter.

"Speaker Settings" - "Front Speakers Type".

Select "Bi-Amp" with the cursors.

Before bi-amping, be sure to remove the short-
circuit connector that connects the tweeter (treble)
terminal and the woofer (bass) terminal.

Use speakers supporting bi-amping only. For
details, refer to the speakers' instruction manual.
Connecting Dipole Speakers
It is possible to use dipole speakers instead of surround
speakers and surround back speakers. A dipole speaker
is bidirectional speaker outputting the same sound in two
directions, for example forward and backward.

Connections
An arrow for matching the phases (

) is marked on a
dipole speaker. Place the surround speakers (a) so that
their arrows ( ) point to the TV and the surround back
speakers (b) so that their arrows ( ) point to each other.

Phase: A waveform position in one cycle (0 to 360 degree) of sine
wave. If the phases do not match due to mistake in speaker distance,
installation angle or positive (+)/negative (–) of wiring, sound image and
sound field may be unclear or hard of listening.
Connecting passive subwoofers
You can use the HEIGHT 1 speaker terminals to connect
passive subwoofers as well as height speakers and Zone 3
speakers.
Connections

Connect passive subwoofers to the HEIGHT 1 terminals
(SUBWOOFER 1 terminals) as shown in the figure
below.
 When connecting only one passive subwoofer, use
the SUBWOOFER 1 terminals.

Turn the unit on and set "Passive Subwoofer" of
"Speaker Setup" to "Yes".
