OVERVIEW OF LENOVO DESKTOPS AND LAPTOPS
WITH INTEL VPRO TECHNOLOGY
Lenovo desktop, notebook, and tablet PCs based on
Intel vPro technology, combined with a leading software
management application such as LabTech, provide
unprecedented capabilities. These advances allow you to
deliver more value to your managed services customers
by helping them spend smarter, get more done, and be
more secure.
Remote diagnosis and repair reduce costly and time-
consuming deskside and service depot visits by resolving
problems and repairing PCs quickly from the console—
even if the PC is powered off or in standby mode, is
connected to a wireless network, or has a disabled OS.

KVM Remote Control connects easily, maintains the
connection through reboot cycles, and gives technicians
a “full GUI” view of the PC they are working on.
2
Secure, remote power up and power cycling allow you to
perform scheduled maintenance, backups, and monitoring
after hours.

Encrypted, remote security updates ensure that security
patches are up to date and speed the deployment of
critical patches, even to systems that are off or down.
WHY LENOVO PCS WITH INTEL VPRO
TECHNOLOGY?
Internet Contrast’s standard installation is a Lenovo
desktop or laptop PC featuring Intel vPro technology. “vPro-
based PCs from Lenovo are more rugged than others,” says
Zumwalt. “I travel a lot myself, and when I’m at the airport,
I look around at the other road warriors and they all have
ThinkPads, because these folks aren’t going back to HQ for
service anytime soon.” The excellent performance of their
Intel® Core™ i5 vPro™ and Intel® Core™ i7 vPro™ processors
delivers the horsepower that Internet Contrasts’ clients
need to run demanding business applications and protect
their investment into the future. “You can leave these
machines on overnight and they’ll never overheat. And if
you do need service, the Lenovo call center is still onshore,
delivering superior customer service. Also, it’s supported by
IBM so we just have to call one number for PCs or servers.”
“We’ve reduced downtime 78 percent and deskside visits
by 50 percent. Sometimes customers don’t realize the
impact we are having because they’re not seeing us. But I
guarantee you that when some executive’s system goes
down and we can fix it remotely, then they understand
the value of vPro.
Brandon Zumwalt, President,
Internet Contrasts
Managing Clients across the Globe
Located outside San Antonio, Texas, managed service provider
Internet Contrasts offers peace of mind for small and mid-sized
businesses (SMBs) by solving their business problems through
technology. “We are an MSP that focuses on a company’s entire
infrastructure,” says Brandon Zumwalt, president of Internet
Contrasts. “We manage everything from PCs and servers to a
company’s ISP, phone service, and maintenance contracts. How
people interface with all the technology within a business is key, so
we try to work closely with C-level executives and company boards
of directors so we understand where a company is going and can
recommend a technology strategy to get them to their destination.”
Zumwalt and his team at Internet Contrasts work as the IT
department for their customers, delivering managed IT services
and helping businesses to realize that IT doesn’t have to be a cost
center. It can be a strategic partner that helps automate business to
make it more efficient.
This approach led Internet Contrasts to adopt Intel vPro technology-
based Lenovo PCs as a standard part of their PC management
service. “We are in Helotes, Texas, which is a suburb of San Antonio,
but we service clients as far away as Mexico and South America,”
says Zumwalt. “With the remote capabilities of vPro and its
hardware-based KVM, my technicians don’t have a lot of windshield
time—which is what I call it when we have to roll a truck to repair a
problem and the tech is driving and stuck staring at the windshield.”
By managing these advanced platforms through their LabTech™
management console software, the company has been able to
significantly cut the cost of delivering services while at the same
time improving their customers’ IT experience.
Going forward, Internet Contrasts will use vPro-based PCs as part
of their standard platform. “We ran a cost benefit analysis showing
our largest customer what they would save by refreshing their
PCs with vPro PCs and it worked out to $3,000 per month just in
proactive power savings,” says Zumwalt. “That’s a really big deal
and minimizes the one-time additional cost of $50.”
