INTRODUCTION AND SPECIFICATION SCOPE
This document details the thermal, mechanical, and quality guidelines and requirements to design
thermal solutions for the Intel® Pentium® 4 processor in the 423 pin package. With this
information, a “Third Party” could design a thermal solution for the Pentium 4 processor.

Intel’s reference thermal solution for the Pentium 4 processor consists of:
• Heat sink
• Fan
• Fan Attach
• Thermal interface material
• Heat Sink Clip (2)
• Retention Mechanism
