ToswitchdatapacketsbetweenLANportsefficiently,theIntellinetswitchmaintainsanaddresstable.Whentheswitch
receivesaframe,itassociatesthemediaaccesscontrol(MAC)addressofthesendingnetworkdevicewiththeLANport
onwhichitwasreceived.Indoingso,theswitchdrasticallycutsdownonunnecessarynetworktraffic,becauseinsteadof
floodingallLANportsofthesameVLANwiththeinformation,itonlysendsittotheportwheretherecipientis
connected.
