Protect Your Deck Tiles
Acacia wood, like any solid wood product will react to weather conditions.
Although pretreated with hard-wax oil at the factory, the deck tiles may
swell or dry out if exposed to snow, rain and sun, resulting in the formation
of cracks.
Prior to installation, it is recommended to apply an exterior-grade wood
sealant, such as INTERBUILD Hardwax Clear Wood Oil to the deck tiles,
on all surfaces, in order to protect the wood finish and also to protect the
wood from weatherization. In addition, for regular deck tile maintenance, it
is recommended that an additional coat of an exterior grade wood sealant
be applied, as required.
The application of the wood sealant does not affect the durability or
function of the deck tiles.
Care, Cleaning & Finish Touch-Ups
In daily use, try to keep the deck tiles clean and dry. If the deck tiles have
been sitting outdoors for some time, clean them well before re-application
of a wood sealant. The best method is to wash and scrub the tiles with
water and a mild cleaner. If necessary, sand the surface with fine
sandpaper. Flush and leave to dry thoroughly.
The InterbuildĀ® hardwax wood oil stain finish can be purchased from the
same supplier where the deck tiles were purchased to match the original
deck tile finish, before a new coat of wood sealant is applied.
Storing
When not using the deck tiles for some time, lift them up so that water can
easily run off the surface. When the outdoor season is over, store the deck
tiles in a cool place indoors or protect them from the elements to retain their
good condition.
