Chapter 1 — Using the CS40

To read a bar code
1 Enable only the bar code symbologies that you need.
2 Use Intermec Settings to choose the predefined imager mode that
best suits your environment:
3 Point the imager window at the bar code label, and hold the CS40
steady a few inches from the label.
4 Press the Scan button. The laser pointer and illumination beam
and frame appear.
Predefined Mode For Scanning
1D Only 1D labels.
1D and 2D Standard (Default) All types of bar code labels.
1D and 2D Bright Environment In high ambient light, such as
outdoors in the sunshine.
1D and 2D Reflective Surface Glossy labels.
Custom In conditions that require customized
settings. For complete information
