NOTE: The 6632 Assist Rails are ONLY to be used with the following Invacare Beds: 5410LOW,

5410IVC, 5410, 5310IVC, 5310, 5307IVC, 5307 and VC5310.

NOTE: Check all parts for shipping damage before using. In case of damage, DO NOT use the

equipment. Contact the dealer/carrier for further instructions.

To ensure the safe and proper installation of the Assist Rails, these instructions MUST be

followed:

DO NOT install or use this equipment without first reading and understanding

these instructions. If you are unable to understand the Warnings, Cautions or

Instructions, contact a healthcare professional, dealer or technical personnel before

attempting to install this equipment - otherwise, death, injury or property damage

may occur.

These assist rails are intended to prevent an individual from inadvertently rolling

out of bed. DO NOT use for restraint purposes.

ENTRAPMENT MAY OCCUR. Proper patient assessment and monitoring, and

proper maintenance and use of equipment is required to reduce the risk of

entrapment. Variations in bed rail dimensions, and mattress thickness, size or

density could increase the risk of entrapment. Visit the FDA website at

http://www.fda.gov to learn about the risks of entrapment. Review A Guide to Bed

Safety, published by the Hospital Bed Safety Workgroup, located at

www.invacare.com. Use the link located under each bed rail product entry to access

this bed safety guide.

Invacare products are specifically designed and manufactured for use in conjunction

with Invacare accessories. Accessories designed by other manufacturers have not

been tested by Invacare and are not recommended for use with Invacare products.

Although assist rails are not rated to any specific weight limitation, the assist rails

may become deformed or broken if excessive side pressure is exerted on the side

rails. The assist rails when used in the UP position, are designed to aid the user in

sitting up or entering/exiting the bed. The assist rails should not be used to support

the full weight of the user. DO NOT use the assist rails as push handles when

moving the bed.

After any adjustments, repair or service and before use, make sure all attaching

hardware is tightened securely. Assist rails with dimensions different from the

original equipment supplied or specified by the bed manufacturer may not be

interchangeable and may result in entrapment or other injury.

Ensure adjustment pins are fully engaged before using the guard or assist positions.

WARNINGS NEVER install two assist rails on the same side of the bed. Assist rail is not designed to be used with any additional rail mounted to the bed. Install assist rails only in the pre-punched mounting holes in the bed frame. When mounted correctly the minimum distance between the assist rail in the assist (up) position and the head board will be appoximately 17 inches. Mattress MUST fit bed frame and assist rails snugly to reduce the risk of entrapment.

Left Assist Rail WARNING Patient entrapment with bed side rails may cause injury or death. Mattress must fit bed frame and side rails snugly to prevent patient entrapment. Follow the manufacturer's instructions. Monitor patient frequently. Read and understand the Owner's/Operator's Manual prior to using this equipment. Operation NOTE: For this procedure, refer to FIGURE 2. NOTE: The assist rails have three positions: • Guard (Down): This position is intended to prevent an individual from inadvertently rolling out of bed. • Assist (Up): Assists the user in standing or sitting on bed. • Access (Back): Allows unimpeded access to user. NOTE: When changing position of the assist rail, hold and raise the rail with one hand while pulling the adjustment pin outward with the other hand. 1.

MISES EN GARDE Même si les rampes de lit ne sont pas homologuées pour une limitation pondérale spécifique, elles sont susceptibles de se déformer ou de se briser si une pression latérale excessive est exercée contre elles. Utilisées en position VERTICALE, les rampes de lit sont destinées à aider l’utilisateur à s’asseoir ou à monter ou à descendre du lit. Les rampes de lit ne doivent pas être utilisées pour supporter tout le poids du patient.

ATTENTION Installer la barre transversale conformément à la FIGURE 1. Sinon, en gênant le tube de traction du moteur, la barre transversale risque d’endommager l’unité. 4. Aligner la barre transversale avec la douille filetée inférieure de la rampe de lit gauche (FIGURE 1). 5. Fixer la barre transversale à la rampe de lit gauche en utilisant un boulon de fixation et des rondelles de sécurité. 6. Répéter les étapes 1 et 2 pour la rampe droite du lit. 7.
