WARNING
After any adjustments, repair or service and before use, make sure all attaching
hardware is tightened securely - otherwise injury or damage may result.
Replacing the Fork/Crank Assembly
NOTE:Forthisprocedure,refertoFIGURE 8.1onpage48.
NOTE:Invacarerecommendsthatthefollowingprocedurebeperformedbyaqualifiedtechnician.
1. Notethepositionofthecrankhandles.
2. Loosen,butDONOTremovethetwosocketscrewsthatsecurethecrankhandlesto
theexistingfork.
3. Slidethecrankhandlesdowntowardsthefrontwheel.
4. Removethechainfromthecrankhandles.
5. Removethecrankhandlesfromtheexistingfork.
6. Removethesocketnutonthebackoftheexistingforkthatsecuresthebrakeassembly.
7. Notebrakeassemblyhardwarepositionandremovethebrakeassemblyfromthe
existingfork.
8. Removetheroadcrowncompensatororsteeringdampenerfromtheexistingfork.
RefertoRemovingRoadCrownCompensatoronpage 51orRemovingSteering
Dampeneronpage 52.
9. Loosen,butDONOTremovethesocketscrewthatsecurestheshiftinglevertothe
seatframe.
10. Removethehexboltandlocknutthatsecurethebrakearmtothebrakearmclamp.
11. Removethebrakearmclampfromtheexistingfork.
12. Loosen,butDONOTremovethetwocap
nutsthatsecurethefrontwheeltothe
existingfork.
13. Removethefrontwheelfromtheexistingfork.
14. Laythechainflat.
NOTE:Layingthechainflatwillpreventkinksinthechain.
15. Removethetwohexbolts,locknutsandclampsthatsecurethefootreststotheexisting
fork.
16. Notethepositionofthefootrestsandremovethefootrestsfromtheexistingfork.
17. Removethetwotopnutsthatsecuretheexistingforktotheframe.
18. Notetheoringandbearingpositionandremovetheexistingforkfromtheframe.
