6 MonitoringofECGatpowerlevelsofgreaterthanaMRsystem
reported,wholebodyaveragedSARof4W/kgisnotrecommended
forthegeneralpatient population.Suchmonitoringmustonlybe
attemptedwithconsciouspatientswithnormalthermoregulatory
capabilitiessothattheymaywarnyouof
possibleexcessiveheatat
themonitoringsites.
7Usecautionforscantimes(thatis,perpulsesequence)greater
than15minutes.ForMRIscanswithaverageSAR>1W/kg,limit
scantimeto15minutesandpauseatleast3minutesbetween
scanstoallowtheECGelectrodestocool.
8Duringmeasurement,checkthepatienttoensurethatMRIrelated
heatingisnotoccurring.
