The M2 is the world’s first compact DVD audio system to include a Built-in Universal Dock for iPod, a card slot for SD, MMC and Memory Stick flash memory cards and a convenient USB port for USB flash memory devices on the front panel.

M2 User Manual UNPACKING AND SET-UP • Carefully remove the unit from the carton and remove all packing material from the unit. • Check to be sure that you have all the following items in addition to the main unit and two speakers: • FM antenna (x1) • Component video cord (x1) • Remote control (x1) • Batteries (x2) If any item is missing, consult your dealer immediately. • We suggest that you retain the original carton and packing materials in case it ever becomes necessary to return your unit for service.
M2 User Manual CONNECTIONS Follow these 5 steps to complete all system connections. 1) Connect the speakers Connect the right and left speaker cords to the speaker jacks as shown below. Make sure to connect red to red and black to black.
M2 User Manual Good Picture For good picture quality, use a composite (RCA-type, included) video cable to connect. Make sure that the sP]TJ.4409>. Better Picture If your TV has an S-VIDEO input, you will get a better picture quality using an S-VIDEO cable (not included) to connect. Make sure that the system is set to interlace not P-SCAN. Composite video out will not work if the system is set to P-SCAN • Press ANGLE/P-SCAN repeatedly until P-S disappears from the display.

If Progressive Scan is supported, follow the TV User Manual’s instructions regarding Progressive Scan settings in the TV’s menu system. If your TV supports Progressive Scan: • Open the disc tray (this setting can be changed only when disc tray is opened). • Press the ANGLE/P-SCAN button to repeatedly until appears on the display. M2 User Manual AUDIO CONTROLS Volume Controls To increase or decrease the system volume press the VOLUME + or VOLUME – buttons on the remote control or VOLUME Control on the front panel. The Volume Level Indicator will appear on the display when you change the volume level. The level indicator ranges from “ 00 ” (Minimum) to “ 30 ” (Maximum). The system remembers the volume level when the power is switched ‘ Off ’ and automatically returns to the same level when the power is switched ‘ On ’ again.

M2 User Manual COMPATIBLE STORAGE DEVICES CD DVD USB SD MMC Memory Stick This system supports playback of music, still images, and video from CD and DVD discs as well as USB and flash memory card devices. This section covers compatible storage devices, supported file types, playback operations and controls. IMPORTANT: • This player can play normal (pre-recorded) discs (CD, DVD) plus CD or DVD Recordable (CD-R, DVD+R, DVD-R) and CD or DVD Rewriteable (CD-RW, DVD+RW, DVD-RW) discs.

M2 User Manual ACCESSING DISCS AND FLASH DEVICES CD DVD USB SD MMC Memory Stick Once a disc or flash device is inserted, you may access its contents. If you will be accessing image or video files make sure you have a TV connected to the unit. After completing audio and video cable connections, turn on your TV and select the video input. To access discs and flash devices: 1) Insert a disc or flash device as above. Make sure the disc tray is closed. 2) Use the FUNCTION button to select DVD-CARD mode.
M2 User Manual PLAYING SONGS, VIDEOS AND IMAGES CD DVD MP3 WMA JPEG MPEG4 VCD Basic playback of songs, videos and images including audio CDs, DVDs, MP3/WMA music files and JPEG images is very similar and functions can be accessed directly from the unit’s front panel or from the remote. This section focuses on basic controls. More advanced controls require use of the OSD and are discussed in detail in section On Screen Display. To begin playback • Press the PLAY/PAUSE button.
M2 User Manual To mute the sound • Press the MUTE button. MUTE will be displayed on TV screen. • Press MUTE again to restore the sound to the previous level, MUTE OFF will be displayed on TV screen. To zoom the image This function allows you to enlarge or shrink the picture on the TV screen and to pan through the enlarged image. Some discs may not respond to zoom. For DVD/VCD discs: Press the ZOOM/V-MODE button repeatedly to select a zoom factor as listed below: ZOOM x 1.
M2 User Manual To play part of a track repeatedly Use the repeat A-B function to play a specific section of a chapter or track repeatedly. 1) Press the A-B/PRESET UP button at your chosen starting point. A is shown on the display. 2) Press the A-B/PRESET UP button again at your chosen end point. A – B is displayed and this section now repeats continuously. 3) To resume normal play, press the A-B/PRESET UP button again.
User Manual M2 SPECIAL DVD and VCD FUNCTIONS VCD DVD Playing DVDs using the Menus • During DVD video playback, press the MENU button to display the menu options for that particular disc. • Press the buttons to select an option • Press the ENTER button to confirm. Within the sub-menus, use the buttons to select and press the MENU button to confirm. Note: • Depending on the DVD disc, a title menu may be called a menu or title in the instructions supplied with the disc.
M2 User Manual SPECIAL VCD/SVCD FEATURES VCD Playing VCDs with Playback Control Functions Playback control (PBC) allows you to play Video CDs interactively, following the menus on your TV screen. • Press the PBC button on the remote control repeatedly to select PBC ON or PBC OFF. • When the PBC function is OFF, press the PLAY/PAUSE button to start playback. • When the PBC function is ON, press the PLAY/PAUSE button to display the PBC menu (if available) on your TV screen.

FAILURE TO DO SO MAY RESULT IN DAMAGE TO THE iPod. This unit comes with 4 removable dock adapters to ensure the iPod fits properly in the dock on the top of the system. 1. M2 User Manual USING THE ON SCREEN DISPLAY(OSD) The OSD on a connected TV shows system information and allows you to interact with the system in a variety of ways. Disc or Flash Device Navigation using the OSD CD DVD USB SD MMC Memory Stick You can use the OSD to select storage devices and view and navigate through files and folders on a device. If more than one storage device is inserted: • Press GOTO/CARD. A list of connected devices is shown.

Note: • File names can be any length but only the first 8 characters will display. • Only letters of the alphabet and numbers will display properly. To move about within the OSD, follow the steps below. Folder selections can only be made in stop mode.

M2 User Manual LISTENING TO THE RADIO 1. Press the STANDBY/ON button to turn the unit ‘ON’. 2. Press TUNER/BAND repeatedly to select the AM or FM band 3. Tune to the desired station as follows: • Manual Tuning Repeatedly press the SCAN/TUNING or buttons until the display shows the exact frequency of the desired station. Use the Manual Tuning method to tune to weak or distant stations that are not strong enough to be recognized by the Automatic Tuning system.

Memory location number “__” will flash on the display and “PRGM” will display for 5 seconds. 3) During the 5 seconds in step 1) above, select the desired memory location by pressing the SKIP/PRESET button repeatedly. After the 5-minute snooze interval the alarm will sound again. The snooze timer starts counting down after the TIMER/SNOOZE button is released. Setting the Sleep Function To fall asleep to music use the sleep function. • Repeatedly press the SLEEP button to cycle through sleep timer settings. 10 30 60 90 120 OFF SLEEP shows on the display.

S/PDIF OUTPUT: • OFF: Setting will turn off the digital output. • SPDIF/RAW: This setting will output the digital signal depending on the disc recorded format.

It will change the video signal of a PAL disc to output in NTSC format (used in the USA, Canada and Japan). - PAL: If the connected TV uses PAL system, select this mode. It will change the video signal of a NTSC disc to output in PAL format (used in Western Europe). VIDEO OUTPUT - Selects the VIDEO OUTPUT options.
