OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Economy control for circulation pumps b/n 300007
Dear customer,
Thank you very much for the trust you have placed in us. Please read these instructions for use carefully and completely prior to
putting it into operation.
Attention!! Important Safety Information!!
- Make sure that no liquids of any kind enter the device.
- The use of the device under unfavourable environmental conditions must be avoided under all circumstances. Unfavourable
environmental conditions include: ambient temperatures above 50°C, flammable gases, solvents, vapours, dust, relative
humidity in excess of 80 %, and moisture.
- The device must only be operated in dry and closed rooms.
- If there is reason to believe that safe operation is no longer possible, the device must be switched off immediately and
protected against unintentional operation. Safe operation can no longer be assumed if the device is not functioning, has visible
damage, had been damaged in transport, if the power supply cable is damaged or after storage under unfavourable conditions.
- Service and repair – servicing may only be carried out by authorized and qualified personnel. Only use spare parts of indicated
value.
- Because live parts are accessible when you open the device, assembly must only be carried out by authorised, qualified
personnel.
- Attention! Danger of burning due to hot water pipes! To avoid injuries, lower the water temperature before the assembly of
the temperature probes.
- Attention! Explosion hazard in case of improper exchange of the internal storage battery! This battery must only be
replaced by an equivalent type.
- The connected circulation pump is still live when it is switched off. Disconnect the mains plug for working on the pump.
Description of functions
The economy control for circulation pumps helps you to save energy and heating costs in water heating, reduce carbon dioxide
emissions significantly and discharge the environment. Not only does the control system cut down energy consumption, it also
extends the durability of your pump.
Two probes monitor the temperature in the hot water circulation. The circulation pump is switched on if the temperature changes
after pre-set intervals. The pump is either switched off according to the set operating time or due to the adequately heated backflow
pipe. At night the control system switches off the pump completely to achieve further optimum energy savings. This nightly switch-
off time may be set individually.
The existing circulation system can be retrofitted easily with just a few actions. Work on the water installations is not required. The
device may be taken into operation immediately in most house installations. The parameters may also be set individually according
to your needs over the easy-to-operate menu.
Intended use
The economy control for circulation pumps is designed for the use in one or multi-family houses. The temperature probes may be
attached to plastic or metal pipe systems. Operating voltage is 230 volts DC. The maximum switching capacity is 450 Watts.
Important Note!! If a time switch is slot in ahead of your circulation pump, switch if off, as this function is taken over by your
circulation pump economy switch.
Assembly
Installation site
The device must only be operated in dry and closed rooms. The device can be mounted to a wall. Ensure that it is mounted safely
and cannot drop down.
The device must be installed near the hot water tank and a 230V socket.
Ensure free access to the device and that the connection cables are laid safely. They must not be loaded mechanically.
Assembly of the housing
Attention! There is free access to live parts when you open the device! Therefore, it is strictly necessary to disconnect the mains
plug before opening! Release the four screws on the top of the device and remove the upper part. The four holes for wall assembly
are clearly visible now. Ensure that no connection cable is damaged or loose. In case of doubt contact a specialist.
Assembly of the temperature probes
Attention! Danger of burning due to hot water pipes! To avoid injuries, lower the water temperature before the assembly of the
temperature probes.
Notes concerning the differentiation of various heating pipes:
• The pipes connecting the hot water tank and the hot water boiler will not be required for measuring the temperature.
• Characteristics of the flow pipe (riser):
- usually connected to the top of the hot water tank
- not connected to the cold water pipe
- no pump in this pipe
- often a three-way mixer (T-piece) is built in
- the pipe is warmer than the backflow pipe
• Characteristics of the backflow pipe (circulation pipe):
- may be connected to the hot water tank on the side or from the top
- the circulation pump is installed in this pipe
- mostly smaller cross-section than flow pipe
• Safe method to differentiate the individual pipes:
1. switch off circulation pump
2. do not use any hot water for approx. 30 minutes
3. now start the circulation pump
4. first, the flow pipe will be heated, then the backflow pipe
In case of doubt contact a specialist.
Mount one temperature probe to the flow pipe sensor and the other one to the backflow pipe.
Usually the probe on the flow pipe has the higher temperature and will automatically be recognised as T1 after short measuring
time.
