Dear Customer,
Thank you for buying our product. You have bought one of the most powerful and reliable Automatic
Chargers of its class. Please read the operating instructions carefully before use.
WARNING !!! Safety Instructions !!
- Keep out of reach of children! The Charger operates on 230 V AC!
- Do not use the unit under the following conditions: in places which are dusty or damp, in a high
humidity area (over 80% rel. humidity), temperatures above 50°C, in areas containing combustible
materials (liquids/solvents, gas), do not immerse in water.
- Use only in enclosed, dry areas.
- Should the Automatic Charger fail to operate or show indications of not operating properly unplug
immediately and make sure that the Charger is not put into further use. Do not use when visible signs
of damage to the Charger or wiring, due to transport or inadequate storage are noticeable.
- Service and Repair - Service and repairs are to be made by authorized Personnel only.
- With this automatic energy conservation battery charger you can automatically charge all lead
batteries (12V).
Description of Operation
In contrast to chargers with voltage/current characteristic, this charger uses constant current. This means
that charging is considerably faster, as the battery is charged with the maximum current right up to the end
of the charging process. The batteries also receive a 100-% charge.
Controlled gassing is desirable in this, as it has a major influence on the formation of sulphate layers, thus
prolonging the service life of the battery.
Charging principle: up to a voltage of 14.7V, the battery is charged with the maximum current. Then the
charger switches to the timer mode and the battery is charged with constantly decreasing current. After
approx. 1 hour the charger switches automatically to the stand-by mode and trickle charging at 13.8V is
initiated. Also suitable for the charging of lead gel batteries. The charger is, of course, protected against
short circuiting and polarity reversal.
LED indicators
red: As soon as a battery is connected, the unit charges with maximum current:
yellow: timer mode – the battery voltage has reached 14.7V. It is then charged for approx. 1 hour with
constantly decreasing current (see diagram).
green: charging is complete and the unit is in "trickle charge" mode.
Security Information
When the charge is completed (the battery is full) the green LED lights.
It is possible to charge batteries with different capacities. For larger batteries the charge time is longer, for
smaller batteries the charge time is shorter.
Batteries may be charged whether they are weak or completely low. The battery can also be continually
connected to the charger but the temperature of the environment should never be exceeded not drop
below 20-25°C. If the battery is inadvertently connected to the charger at the wrong pole/terminal then the
flow of energy will be discontinued. If the poles are reversed by mistake on connection of the battery to the
charger, the charging current is shut down.
Operating the Unit
1. Connect to a 230V AC: First plug the charger into 230V outlet.
2. Connect battery: Place the red clip of the charger to the positive pole/terminal
Instruction! The unit is protected for awhile from short circuiting! Any short circuit which continues
over a minute must be avoided otherwise the transformer or the electronic within the charger will
be overloaded.
Warning !!
- When charging the battery make sure that the charger is connected to the correct poles/terminals of
the battery.
- To avoid damage of the battery make absolutely sure that the battery is never overdischarged.
- Charge batteries only in well ventilated areas.
- Open the lead battery caps.
- Before charging the lead battery test the acid level.
- When charging for a longer period of time test the acid level several times.
- When charging the battery avoid open fire, direct lighting and sparks. (There is danger of explosion
with oxyhydrogen gas!)
- Pay close attention to the instructions an how to charge the battery (these instructions are usually
printed on the top of the battery).
Troubleshooting: If operation of the unit is not safe unplug immediately and make sure it is not put into
further use.
This means: If there is visible damage of the unit.
If the unit is not functioning.
If any of the units components are loose or removed.
If there is visible damage to the wiring.
If repair is needed use only original parts. Utilization of parts from other distributors may result in damage
to the unit and to the operator! Service and repairs are to be made by authorized personnel only!
If the unit fails to operate return the unit to our company.
