6. Troubleshooting
Here are the general tips and troubleshooting to the most common problems you might encounter.
6.1. USB Adapter Initial Installation Error
If you plug in USB Adapter to an empty USB port after you have installed PAN, then Windows will
automatically install its driver. But, if you see an error message saying Cannot find Btusb.sys, click
on ‘Browse’ to locate the file from
C:\ Program Files\ IVT Corporation\ MiniBluelet\ Pan\ Driver\ USB\ BTusb.sys.
Once USB is installed, Windows will be able to recognize it in next time.
6.2. BT Network Adapter First time Installation Error
While installing PAN, if you cannot find BT network adapter driver, then locate file from
C:\ Program Files\ IVT Corporation\ MiniBluelet\ Pan\ Device\ win9x\ IVTnetBT_For98.inf.
If you encounter BT network adapter related errors after rebooting your system, remove adapter
and reinstall it. This kind of error will not occur in the second installation attempt.
6.3. Running PAN for the First Time
When you initially run PAN under Windows98SE / ME, it might take a few minutes for the system to
allocate MAC address to BT network adapter, and an error might occur due to this delay. If an error
occurs in the system, Exit PAN and reboot your computer. At this time, the system will store MAC
address, and the same problem will not be repeated.
6.4. Internet Connection Problem with LAN Adapter
It might raise an Internet connection problem when a PC, which is running Windows98SE / ME with
a LAN card but uses the Internet through USB adapter as a Client in wireless network, now wants to
switch back to LAN card to use the Internet. This is because the system overwrites the default
Gateway routing table with Bluetooth Adapter Gateway when you install USB adapter under
Windows98SE / ME. (Note: you can verify this using route print commend on MS-DOS prompt.)
This problem is due to the fact that Windows98SE / ME manages Route Table in static manner
depending on the network settings. Whereas Windows2000 / XP does not encounter to this
particular problem since it manages Route Table in dynamic manner depending on the network
cards.
To resolve this problem, My Computer -> Properties -> Device Manager Tab -> Network
adapters -> Select BT Network Adapter -> Properties -> Check mark on Do not use this device
(disable).
If you want to use BT network adapter again to be a client on a wireless network, disable the LAN
