JAG Plumbing Products: How to Replace a Cartridge
Most faucet cartridges are either threaded into the faucet body, or are held in place by a lock nut.
In order to remove or replace a cartridge, you will need to unscrew the cartridge from the faucet, or remove the lock nut you can use a
common wrench or a plumber’s wrench to assist you in unscrewing the cartridge or nut.
*Tip: to help avoid scratching the nut or stripping the cartridge, apply some spray lubricant and allow to sink in; then wrap the nut or cartridge
in a soft rag, and use the wrench on top of the rag.*
(Please note: Before removing the cartridge, you must turn off the water supply to the faucet. Once the water supply has been turned off, you
are ready to begin working on your faucet.)
In order to remove and install a cartridge, you will need to:
1. Turn the water supply off to the faucet
2. Remove the handle (usually held on with an allan screw found on the underside of the handle)
3. Remove the cartridge
4. Install the new cartridge
5. Test for leaks
